Can it not be both? If you don't think turning the ball over 5 times in the first 31 minutes and spotting a good team 17 points on the road contributed to this loss, then you're too goddamn fricking stupid to live, much less debate with.

Just because the defense gave up two tds at the END of the game does not mean they are to blame, turnovers were absolutely the reason why we lost this game even if we did overcome them. It would have been a different game w/o those turnovers and if not for the effort of our defense through 3.5 quarters this game would have been over quickly

yeah, we overcame them, but if we don't turn the ball over 5 times, we don't become one dimensional, to the same extent anyway, we can stay with the game plan longer, we don't play from behind the ENTIRE game, having to change our philosophy about keeping balance from the jump, etc.....

sure, PT got hurt early and that made us change, but keep in mind this the 8th ranked rushing attack in the league and it's not focused on 1 single guy.... it's by committee.... if we don't get down early, we can continue doing just that.... rotating our backs and keeping balance, dictating the flow of the game.....

but we didn't.... we essentially handed them points and put ourselves in a hole (although, yeah, we climbed out), but like i said, it changed the entire game for us and got us away from our gameplan totally..... just be thankful that we have a very high power offense or it would have been over from that point, without any late game drama....

The thing is why didn't Williams just force Smith to win with his arm against a prevent defense. Blitzing just opened the field up for a dumb big play IMO.

Less than 2 minutes on their 15 and 1 TO. That what it came down to! Now would you have thought before the game if it came to that they would score a TD. To me that is all that matters.

3 plays and a TD is not exactly much of a "drive." They weren't gassed, they were outcoached. Again. Which has happened every time during the past 2 seasons when this team has lost a game.

You stupid or something? Gave them points, took point off the board for us, they created the chances they deserve to win. Like coach Mora said, 5 fricken turnovers.

The D held it's own for 80% of the game. They were gassed from having to be on the field for 5 extra series. This loss is not on the D. Did you guys watch the same game as me?

Good point, I'm gonna start doing 80% of my job and call it a day for the rest of my life.

However, had we stopped them from scoring on the final play, we win. That's a FACT.

No shite and had we not turned it over we would not have been down to begin with. This is just fricking stupid if y'all think turnovers werent the factor. You do realize that we would have ate up more clocks and they wouldn't have had the ball in our territory. Correct? So there offense stalls in our territory after a turnover and they kick field goals. So no turnover means they would've had to drive down the field for those points thus eating clock and even still they might have stalled before they reached our side of the field

Turnovers gave them 17 and took 7 from us (Thomas losing it on the 2).

24 points.

Sure the turn overs were a factor, but this loss was on Gregg. They weren't gassed. He called the dumbest plays the last 2 drives. They had ONE timeout! If we play zone with 2 or 3 deep safeties we win! Some of you people really amaze me how you seem to be taking up for this joke of a coordinator!

Let's go hypothetical here, we give up 7 turnovers, are down 24(could be a lot more but our defense holds them countless times) come back late to take the lead and the defense gives up a hail mary type play to lose the game and it's the defense's fault we lose because it happened to be the last thing that occurred? Ridiculous; and this scenario isn't that far away from what actually happened

so the offense and special teams get a pass for doing 50% of their job?

Nobody's saying they didn't! We overcame the deficit and took the lead. Then our defensive idiot was too stubborn to abandon the blitz and play zone. That cost us the game

Not even close. We left Davis in man coverage and just let smith throw it to him freely the last 2 drives
