Supposedly Cooks has roster bonus due tomorrow, but only $700k, so not enough that we should rush into bad deal.

its enough change to not let it go to waste if we're trading him.

Honestly I'd be cool with working out a contract with Prince Amukamara and being done. I'm done with win now mode, Saints have tried that several times and it backfired. I feel Brees has 2-3 good years left. I'd be cool with going into next season with good cap space also.

I think we get part of it now, and part of it on June 1. the bigger part comes on June 1 which will go to draft picks and the last few roster guys.

Not true. We immediately save his salary that wasn't guaranteed (no guaranteed salary this year) and then are hit with all his paid bonuses (the signing bonuses this year and future years).

Come June 1st we save the future portions of the signing bonus.

I feel like we're gonna resign Moore & B.W. Webb, plus draft a guy with our 2nd 1st rounder.

maybe White.

Ladarius Webb released by the ravens. #15 safety per PFF. We absolutely should.

Payton loves Safeties. I wouldn't be surprised.

Why was he cut?

I feel like we might be holding out some of that money for a Vaccaro extension and most likely a possible extension with Butler.

If we don't land Butler I could see us going after Prince and that being it

The Ravens got younger at safety with the addition of Tony Jefferson, so they got rid of the old guy. According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have released veteran defensive back Lardarius Webb. Webb played well enough after converting from cornerback to safety, but the combination of being 31 years old and their ability to save $5.5 million in cap space made it kind of inevitable. He’s played all eight of his NFL seasons with the Ravens.

I mean it's not a bad call

Both were very solid and this drafted is loaded with corners

If the saints end up somehow getting another 1st in this draft, I'd like to think we could go DB at one of those spots since we got a guard. Certainly depends on how the board plays out. If Jamal Adams or Malik Hooker are SOMEHOW there at 11, I am all for it to replace Byrd. If Soloman Thimas is somehow still there, then I don't see us passing on him over anyone...although that's just conjecture since pass rush is probably number 1 priority right now.

Do we even know if that 21.5 number includes Warford, Ginn, Fairley, etc.

The only numbers I've seen released are Klein and Fairley (to a lesser extent).

I find it hard to believe we only spent 7 million year one between all of those guys, but I guess anything is possible.

Webb was decent early on then was just bad late.

Moore looked better imho

yeah and they'd both come cheap. You gotta figure you can put together a solid CB group out of Breaux, Williams, Swann, Moore, Webb, a rookie and maybe even a guy like Kyle Wilson comes to camp.

no idea. I've been poking around twitter trying to get an answer but I haven't gotten one. I also don't know if that includes savings from Byrd. those are just the numbers the NFLPA are reporting this morning.

Byrd is being replaced with Bell. I guess if we get #5 from the Titans I could see taking another safety, but we really need a DE. Not interested in Solomon Thomas.

I think if Hooker is there, and he could be, then that means Thomas and possibly Barnett are off the board. And I could see the Saints taking him instead of reaching on someone else then taking whoever is left at 32 or 18.

Highly doubt the NFLPA cap figure floating around is fully updated. It’s only down $5.9 million and Klein, Banjo and Keo count for $4.4.
