Did Saints pick the wrong safety?

First off, this thread sucks.

Secondly, why can't both teams have picked the right safety?

I'll reiterate my point:

Hard to tell after only 3 preseason games. Lets give it till halftime against the dolphins before we definitively decide who had the better NFL career Read (sp?) or Vaccaro

We haven't even discussed Stan and Kyle.

I just hope Vaccaro survives the whole season.

@ cptrusty:
Should be simple. You're a top 15 pick, you start at the position for which you were drafted. See? Simple. The Saints have NOBODY at safety. Harper(SS), can't cover and Jenkins(FS) can't make a play. If the guy you picked top 15 at safety can't beat out either of those two stiffs, then yes, simply, you made the wrong pick. Now tell me the difference between strong and free safety, smart football guy...

...yeah, I didn't think so

Strong safetys are typically bigger and aid in run defense, blitzing and the short field.

Free safetys are generally quicker and more apt to coverage. They aid in over the top help and zone/ man coverage

ETA:
Vaccaro is going to start/ rotate with the starters.

You havent answered my questions from my first post yet

Again, there really hasn't been any indication that Vaccaro won't start. Also, have you been watching the games? Vaccaro has been the third best defender in the preseason behind Jordan and Foster.

Also, Ryan runs a lot of crazy alignments/groupings, including playing 3 safeties in the backfield. Even if he doesn't start, that doesn't mean he won't get plenty of playing time.

Sean Payton said Vacarro is the most impressive rookie he has seen since Jeremy Shockey.

He wouldn't just say that, and Vacarro is absolutely starting.

There really isn't such a thing as a "starter" on defense in the conventional sense anymore. It's all about number of snaps.

Aldon Smith didn't "start" his first two years in the league. He was a pass rusher, but he played a ton of snaps. Parys "started" in front of him.

Bust!

Mark Sanchez started day 1. Aaron Rodgers rode the bench.

I'm glad I've decided to make a face turn for this season. There's way too many new heel posters filing up the board.

Me too. I mean i think you'll be a good poster this season. I've seen some good stuff. You might go back to your old ways. I'm not saying you will, but I'm just being a realist. I've seen you do it before. I hope I'm wrong.

Then it's settled!

I expect both safeties to play well this year. I think we drafted the right player for us.

Zombie is a realist. He predicted 7 wins last year after game 1 despite the harassment that followed. I'd be interested in hearing his prediction for 2013
