Drew’s injury appears to be more than banged up ribs

Just piecing some things together:

-Drew mentioned in his PC it wasn’t a pain issue
-Florio reported it was a “accumulation” of injuries, whatever that means
-Drew is scheduled for an MRI, not just an x-Ray. MRIs are typically reserved for soft tissue injuries.

I’m clearly a dummy and no doctor, but I wonder if we’re looking at damaged cartilage or a core muscle injury, similar to the injured oblique he had a couple years ago. Obviously the ribs could be cracked or broken too.

Assuming this is all true, what kind of time table are we looking at?

He didn't practice much last week because he hurt his throwing shoulder playing the Bucs. I assumed that's what Florio meant by accumulation. The shoulder and the ribs.

Remember the weird tape job he had on his shoulder the last couple of weeks, too. Plus, I wonder if that thumb ever really fully healed. I can recall at least 2 passes this year where he completely lost the grip and the ball flittered to the ground.

Hurt ribs is pretty straight forward. Beef up the padding and get a pain killer shot.

He said he couldn’t function, which leads me to wonder if there are some soft tissue issues hindering his mobility

They said pain wasn't the issue.

He might have had a concussion but still got us a touchdown.

I hope it’s not too serious. I keep going back to the dropped snap where he picked it up and still threw it to AK for the TD.

Not a demanding play but still showed good instincts and movement. So how serious could it be long term?

He was already at 60% going into the game and wearing a flak jacket. His body was breaking down and one good hit from it being over. Drew’s going to do everything in his power to fight, but based on all of his body language during the game and in his presser, he knows it’s not good.

If it was cracked ribs, he wouldn’t have come out, suited up, in the second half. I’m betting it’s bruised cartilage between the ribs. I’ve had both injuries and cracked ribs, I couldn’t even breathe. Bruised cartilage, I felt better 3 days later but I’m not an NFL player.

Idk about all that. Payton didn’t sound nearly as worried as Drew did.

As you get older it's easier to get hurt. I was around 50 and was surfing in Costa Rica and got hit by the board and hurt really bad. Got home and was still sore and got an X-ray. normal

Honestly, he’s been hurt since the Carolina game. I was sitting in the end zone for the QB sneak for a touchdown when he did his jump “ball sneak” for a score. He got freaking POPPED on that play. He didn’t seem quite right after, and I think that’s really what’s been catching up to him. Go back and watch the highlight. It was a nasty hit for anyone, let alone a 40+ year old.
