Why did that happen? Oh yeah, because our defense was awful. Give the man a chance with a good defense. It feels like we aré Minnesota-tier now with a middle of the road qb and a solid team for him to work with. We get into the dance and anything can happen…just ask US the last 4 years Payton and Brees were here.

So true, I felt terrible for Brees, dude was in his prime, lighting it up and we just couldn't stop anybody.
He had to throw four TDs a game just to keep games close.

The negative Nancy posters are too lazy to look at overall defense in Carr's 9 years, not to mention their horrible draft history. The dude literally NEVER had a defense inside the top 20 and more seasons than not they were 28th or worse. They hired a commentator and supposed draft guru as GM and made it worse.

In the 3 year stretch mentioned Brees was putting up absolute monster stats. Obviously I wouldn’t expect Carr to do the same but his stats are good but not great with bad defenses.
Under normal circumstances I’d be fine with this signing, I don’t think Carr is bad and he could have the Saints contending for the playoffs since the division is so bad. But ultimately you still have cap issues that keep getting kicked down the road. At some point that does hinder you from getting to the next level, where the Saints were from 2017-2020.

You just can't expect a coach/GM to accept a tank when their job depends on winning. They're doing whatever they can to put out a good product or Allen is done and he knows it.
When they began kicking that can, I don't know if you can stop kicking it. There's so much dead money tied up everywhere is there anything that can be done in the next 10 years to get back to normalcy?

You don’t have to. They were 7-10 with Dalton and Winston last year and of not for the blown MNF game at Tampa they would have been playing for the playoffs the last week. That aside at 7-10 they would have the 10th pick, which you could get a QB at 10 or move up a couple of spots had you not traded it last year. You do not need a decade to clear cap issues, a year or two of letting it play out would suffice. Would be easier with good drafting and again not trading away picks to move up for anything besides a QB

What exactly did it do for the Dolphins? They're not close to a Super Bowl team. And McDaniel wasn't the coach during their bad seasons.

They’re a very competitive team as long as Tua is conscious.
They went from 5 wins to 10 in one offseason. They built a solid foundation.

Agreed. The need to compare every new QB to drew Brees is definitely clown material.
