In retrospect I would have hated letting MW go over 14M then turn around a signing CJGJ for 12M, after the TM and MM deals.

But we are trading future capital and making 2:1 and 3:1 trades and gutting our ability to refill the roster with cheap young talent to offset the cap mismanagement.
this is where we are really failing...
you can kick the can down the road financially, with how we do our contracts, but in order to continue to stock a roster with talent you have to have a good amount of picks to be able to pick up rookie contracts to offset that dead money/higher cap players... we aren't utilizing our draft picks efficiently, at all, in that respect, and we sorta get "stuck" with certain players, or become void of depth at some positions (LB, for instance)

This isn't true.
Then why did we add 6.2M in dead cap to our 2 big FA signings? For the hell of it?
That is their strategy.
You can't figure that out by now?
If they are doing it in the inital contract that is clearly their strategy.

The saints have never been a team that overpays
Overpaying is only relative to the cap space.
If we had 40M in extra room, we could have literally put a huge chunk of that 70M on our 2022 cap, making 2023-2026 a bargain.
Is that "overpaying"?
No, overpaying is overpaying.
The saints aren't just going to give someone extra money because they have it.
They could've easily given williams a huge signing bonus and made the first two yrs of cap hits a mil or two. They do this all the time.
Kinda crazy i have to explain this to you.
You are sitting here bitching in every thread about the saints and the cap but want them to then overpay williams and ceedy.

The Drew Brees contract should be the last thing you complain about. He was over performing his first contract with New Orleans. Way worse QBs have gotten big deals.
The Taysom contract was more head scratching.

More like: I want them to pay either of them market value
MW is barely in the top 10 AAV and likely won't be there after this year. People on here act like he's the highest paid safety.

They lierally could though.
They chose not too. They added 2 extra years with 1.2 mil each year in the maye contract.
They could've easily fit that amount in to year 2 and 3 of maye's contract.
Like I've been telling you it's their strategy to keep doing this. Damn man.
Please answer this. Do you honestly believe they couldn't fit 2.5 mil of money into the 2024 cap???
