you never draft a project in the first round. that is exactly what you want to do if you draft dupree.

first rounders are EXPECTED to play day one.

collins can do that. and be really good for us.

This.

I think we will see a much different outlook from the Saints in regards to the players they draft. I expected nothing but guys that are deemed "NFL ready" as this team wants to win now and cannot afford to wait 2-3 years for a top pick to develop.

I don't get the impression Dupree won't be ready to play. The word is he will require development to reach his full potential and refine his skills, but his raw talent will make him a viable starter. He is not a developmental player in the sense that you are talking about.

The problem with taking Collins is that Guards are often found later in the draft. I personally am fine with drafting him, but I can understand why teams would not touch him that high at the Guard spot. It's not a position of premium as WR, DE, DT, CB and QB are. Unless he were a super elite type player, then the opinions on this begin to change.

Granted it was only one game, but I watched his game vs. Florida yesterday, and came away really unimpressed with Dupree. I was really intrigued by him before that, so I will have to watch another game or so. While I am far from a NFL scout, the impression that I got from that game was:
-If he can't run around/past an offensive lineman using his speed, he isn't getting to the QB. He has zero other pass-rush moves besides his speed/quickness.

-Whenever a O-lineman got a hand on him, he was done. Doesn't seem to disengage well from being blocked.

-He dropped in coverage a few times, and seemed to be quick enough to cover the flats.

I just watch Shane Ray's game vs. South Carolina and came away much more impressed, after cooling off on him previously. Again, I don't pretend to be a scout, I just enjoy watching these things.

You are detailing techniques. That is primarily a product of coaching. Someone with his size, speed combo and talent is rare, and Ray is the opposite of him (smaller guy). Ray could very well get swallowed up by OL in the league. You don't pass up a guy that you think would be all pro just because he hasn't been taught technique. Now if they don't think Dupree will be that type of player, then...

Collins can start at guard right away and might be able to take over at RT when Strief retires or is let go.

Texas Southern CB Tray Walker has visits with eight teams scheduled, according to Tony Pauline.
This means the media, including this site, is behind on Walker. Those eight teams include the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. Walker is a physical specimen, measuring in at 6'2 3/4" and 189 lbs, recording a 36.5-inch vertical jump and 10-7 broad jump. Walker ran in the mid-4.4s and posted a 4.05 short shuttle and a sub-6.7 3-cone. Teams love length at corner, and Walker fits the bill.

I'd go 6th or 7th because of concussion history.

Great kid, though. Degree in hand.

Here is my question if Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA, Sr. is sitting there at #31 does Payton and Loomis pass on him?

Most mocks have the Packers or another team taking him before us but damn this guy is probably your best ILB in the draft.

Word from TCU: Scouts have Paul Dawson in 4.7s and that he dominated in position drills.

No way they pass on him barring someone else higher on board still available. :GENIUS:

Agree. The 4.9 was never really a deal breaker for me, but I am glad to see him run a little better. I'm tired of drafting track athletes at LB. Can we get an actual football player there?
