What three positions do the saints have to fill in the upcoming draft?

Which players will they let go and what free agents will they sign? That happens first and will give insight into positional need. Several lengthy threads devoted to roster management and draft outlook to be found.

Really depends who we keep/let go.

We won't have a high enough pick for Jones.

I think Morgan is proving to the deep threat we thought he could. Really excited about his progress the last few weeks.
And yes there are already multiple threads, but whether its through FA or the draft the top 3 to me are:
OT
S/CB
Pass rusher

ETA: although I would love to see Tavon Austin in this offense

Saints have drafted Best Player Available for a while now. I suspect that will continue.

Areas of immediate need:
OT
OLB

Areas of need:
DT
DE
SS

Disagree with the DT need. I think Hicks and Bunkley shore that up. I wouldn't mind having Ellis back at a reduced rate if he continues to show some sort of production like he has the last few weeks. Then we have Tom Johnson who has played well and Tyrunn Walker on the PS.

Do agree about OLB though. I think Hawthrone shores up one side but I would love to get so done like Moseley bc I don't know how Vilma stays around much longer

Also anyone who's weary about the Badger, look at Janoris Jenkins the last 2 weeks. 2 pick 6s last week and a fumble return for TD this week. Out of the NCAA for a year and doing very well.

I don't see Ellis being back. That leaves us with Hicks and Bunckley (both of who I like) but I still think we need an upgrade at DT and DE.

Disagree. We need to draft need on defense.

Even though SP and Loomis never do

yea, that isn't true at all

we've been committed to defense in the draft and free agency

2012: Hicks (top pick)and Corey White
-signed Lofton, Hawthorne, and Chamberlain in free agency

2011: Cam Jordan (1st), Martez Wilson (3rd), Johnny Patrick (3rd), Greg Romeus (7th), Nate Busey (7th). Ingram was the only offensive player drafted
-added Shaun Rogers, Will Herring, and Franklin

2010: Patrick Robinson (1st), Al Woods (4th)
-We also drafted Charles Brown and Jimmy Graham
-can't find which defensive players we signed

2009: Malcom Jenkins (1st), Chip Vaugn (4th), Stanley Arnoux (4th). Those were our top 3 picks
-added at least Darren Sharper, Greer, and Hargrove in free agency

2008: Sed Ellis (#7 pick), Tracy Porter (2nd round), DeMario Pressley (5th round, our 3rd pick)
-also drafted Carl Nicks in the 5th.

2007: Usama Young (3rd round, our 2nd pick), David Jones (5th), Marvin Mitchell (7th)
-also signed PT
-added at least Jason David in free agency (ouch)

2006: Roman Harper (2nd), Rob Ninkovich (5), Josh Lay(6)
-also drafted Evans, and Colston
-added at least Drew Brees and Scott Fujita in free agency

nice review bait, they have certainly committed enough draft & free agent capital towards defense. The outcomes haven't been bad but certainly could be better. What is needed IMO is one surefire established playmaker, regardless of position. That's what Sharper was. Then the first draft pick should be a guy that comes in and is starter ready to make an impact on day one, not a developmental project or role player.
