There is not a single QB in the draft that I would say has "good upside".
Malik Willis is nothing but upside. Im personally not buying the hype, but his draft status is largely built on things he really has yet to accomplish on a football field.

The deal they gave him is probably a prove it type of deal. Giving him a chance to earn a long term contract.
Right. Jameis is only 28. If he proves to be a thing he is your QB the next 10 years. He’s essentially your draft pick QB without the years, money and learning curve.
If he’s bad you’re in position to draft a QB with a higher pick the next two years

That's not upside. That's wishcasting.

I am all for drafting a QB in round 1 or 2.
"A" quarterback, you say?

Worst case is you have a young, cheap QB with potential ready to start in year 3.
No, worst case scenario is you convinced yourself to waste a first or second round pick on a JAG who will clearly never be a starter because you've convinced yourself you "need" to take a QB there, even if (even moreso than most years) about half the first round QBs turn out to never be consistent starters. Plus you pass on the WR, TE, or whatever position the BAP ends up being.

Personally I hope they are still working the phones with Cleveland.
To do what? They aren’t trading for Baker after signing Jameis.

You left out who is your sure fire franchise QB to get in rnd 1.
I don't see one.

Ima keep beating the Sam Howell drum. He is an example of how dumb scouting qb’s is. After last year, he came into this season as a projected number 1 pick type of talent.
Because his weapons moved on to NFL, and the team wasn’t as good, now he can probably be had end of first, beginning of second round. It’s not like he was terrible.
He’s still had nice numbers. The guy ran for 800 yards, and has a big arm. As someone else said, until you find your franchise qb, you should always be looking for that guy.

This draft's crop of quarterbacks are not too good.
We aren’t picking in the Top 15 - it gives us a legit chance to snag QB1 or QB2 this year.
If we were picking Top 5 I’d feel terrible about drafting a Qb this year, but we aren’t.

Completely agree, but usually there’s an obvious standout or two

I like Winston but he’s not the QB of the future and the contract he just signed is proof of that. Best case scenario is we sign another QB and draft one and the best payers wins the job. If it’s Winston then good for us but it won’t be Winston, Hill and Book going into the season.
