So this got me to thinking...we have two years max left with Drew.

Do we go all in and bring in as many impact players this FA?

The bigger question is do we trade 2018 First Rounder to get back into the first round this year if a Defensive Player we covet is sitting there?

At this point if I were Mickey id pull out the black card and go for the moon.

1. Get one of the following Chandler Jones, Jaime Collins, A.J. Bouye, Melvin Ingram, and Jason Pierre-Paul.

2. Sign a top guard in Melvin Zeitler, Andrew Norwell, or T.J Lang. (Ready day one) Replacing Evans with any of the above mentioned will put us on par with Dallas.

3. Afterwards trade up to get Jamal Adams or Derek Barnett. If can't trade up then draft Mike Williams and trade Cooks and our 2nd (Eagles, Ravens, or Cardinals) to get back in the first round to pick Cunningham or Peppers. At this point with Drew's slightly declining arm strength I want big "high point" wide receivers. Having Williams and Thomas would be awesome for the next three years for Drew.

Key is going to be free agency. Have to get an impact player on defense at a minimum. I would be excited if we landed Collins and Jones. This would allow us to go BPA in draft (Fournette).

It's not next year or bust. Draft well this year to fill some holes and make a playoff push. Then the next year you sign someone like Sheldon Richardson, Justin Pugh or Ezekiel Ansah for a championship run. In 2018 you may make a trade up for players like Arden Key or Minkah Fitzpatrick if that's your major need.

Yes of course and I've stopped predicting when Drews last year will be. You should too

THIS GUY frickING GETS IT!

Draft BPA at 11. And GET BACK IN THE FIRST to get the othe r pressing need.

Use this cap space on 1-2 year deals and lets get Drew one more ring!

Getting back into the first is expensive.

This draft is deeper than most in regards to defensive talent. Jump back into the 2nd like we did with vonn bell, it's more reasonable and doesn't cost too much.

It's not a bad idea. But the Saints shouldn't do it.

At least, not trading away future picks to get back into the 1st. Sign key guys and draft well like they did last year and they should be playoff bound. If they can get key contributions from their FA signees and rookies, I can't see how they make it, barring any injuries

The Saints actually have the resources to do it this year.

And yeah, they will. Payton and Loomis have to feel like their asses are on the line, and Drew is on the last year of a deal.

They will go all out. Major players in FA and wheeling and dealing in the draft.

They have no choice. Window for Brees will be open for another year or two.

well both sides of this can be viewed as a best way

but in reality, if you continue to build the team over the next few years without making moves to build sooner then that, by the time the team is ready for a playoff run in 3 years we wont have a quarterback to take us there and while the "team" will be good, we will be back with the likes of bobby hebert and steve walsh (average at best) type QBs for our quarterback

We tried that. It blew up in our faces.

frick that.

Draft youth and depth. Hire coaches that can make them better.

Get FAs to fill positions of absolute need, i.e. oline and pass rush, but be sure to draft their talented young backups as well.

Yea, except for the part about trading up to draft Jamal Adams. Why the hell would we give up a pick to draft a #3 safety? I really like Adams, but it doesn't even make sense.

It's people have the attention spans of a gnat. We tried to make a quick turn around and invested a lot of money in guys like Sproles, Ben Grubbs, Curtis Lofton, Victor Butler, Gallett, David Hawthorne and Brodrick Bunkley. It backfired and we lost guys we drafted like Graham and Jenkins. Build the team. Then we just need the Brees to be as good as Manning was two years ago or Elway was in his last two years.

With the salary Drew commands how do we get top flight players to come play for peanuts?

can we stop with this BS already, drew salary is not an issue, he just has an average salary.

based on what every other QB gets, you can even argue that he is under paid for being the top 5 best QB in the league

Some people never learn no matter how many times it is explained to them.
