He never even came close to holding on that play. wtf are you babbling about?

Cmon man! Did you actually watch the clip. His head was behind Parson for over a second, which could and should be called a hold.

Bruh I'm not raining on parades or pissing down backs, but most people only focus on the ball. It's hard not to. QB gets the ball and watch him unwind. I focus on the line especially Penning. I don't focus on Fuaga. I want to see how bad he is from what people say.

Hes had some great plays, but yes he holds at times.

Blocked Parsons well enough to score
Agreed, but that was more how we schemed the game from Kubiak's side. Even Parsons came out and said it was like he was having to go through a maze to get to Carr. There was no mention of Penning shutting him down.

Like I said in earlier post, I don't really have anything to complain about Penning after 2 games.

Orlovsky commented on that saying there was traffi but it wasn’t an actual chip. It was still 1v1 and Trevor beat him

He can improve and he does get pushed back a little more than you’d want. He’s getting better though

And he has been excellent in the run game.

Everyone thought he wouldn’t be able to play at all a couple weeks ago

Kubiak is masking his deficiencies.

Saints drafted a LT, and he didn't perform. He played against inferior talent in college. The speed and power had him looking lost. Line coach did him no favors, probably gave up.

Enter 2024 and Saints have invested a first round pick in him so move him to RT while drafting a LT. They don't want to just give up.

Enter Kubiak who says hold my beer. Penning will get better and better.

As long as he keeps improving. I still think he woukd make a better guard. He just seems like he’s a lot better attacking than sitting back. But if he can continue mauling people at tackle and not look like he did in the preseason pass blocking, we will ok.

That "hold" on Parsons by Penning is pretty split-second and in no way flagrant. I would not have thrown the flag in real-time if I'm a ref.

I'm shocked that he's doing as well as he is in pass blocking. Hope it keeps up.

I’ll gladly eat crow if he becomes at least average in pass pro.

He has been above average the first two games. I assume sacks matter

Unfortunately, if you break down film and focus on his in pass pro, he gets beat or holds nearly every rep when solo.

That's not true. I won't say majority of the time but he's holding his own. His confidence is building he'll get better.

Are you saying he released Parson after holding him?

If the O lineman keeps his hands inside the refs are not going to call holding. Penning kept this hands inside the entire time.

Not true, his head and body were behind Parsons. That is the opposite of keeping his hands inside. We got away with a blatant hold.

No sacks given up is a good stat for any tackle. The future awaits. But he has been anything but below average so far. JMO

PFF grader his pass blocking a 26.7 yesterday, which is way below average, might even be the worst in the league.

Again, I want him to be good, I just think teams will start to scheme and we should have another option available if we want to make a real run.

I guess I should have been more clear. That guy needs playing time imo.
