Despite everyone hating on Carr’s performance in 2022…

And he deserves plenty of criticism…but…The Raiders still finished as the number 12 scoring offense and the number 11 total offense. They had the 7th fewest giveaways as well but were dead last in takeaways.
The year before the Raiders were 6th in total offense and 8th in scoring offense, and that was with only 5 games with Gruden.

The raiders D was ranked 20th or worse in every meaningful category. It was a joke. The press man call against the Rams, putting a UFA rookie corner on an island 1:1 with time expiring and LAR with no TO; this after McDaniels called like 6 pass plays in the entire second half and tried to run the ball into the teeth of a top 5 rush D.
Carr built something like 5 or 6 double digit halftime leads that the Raiders went on to blow—NFL record. I think 3 were 17 or more points.
McDaniels playcalling in these games was a joke. Went into a shell, took away Carr’s ability to audible, had predesigned single read plays, and routinely ran the ball into a wall. Players like Adams and Jacobs talked shite about play calls and strategy in post games and long time beat writer Vic Tafur has reported Carr even went rogue on the staff and ran different plays in the Seattle game they won.
I posted this into another thread, but here is some stat geek deep dive on 2nd half passing from Warren Sharp.

Carr built something like 5 or 6 double digit halftime leads that the Raiders went on to blow—NFL record. I think 3 were 17 or more points.

12 is close to middle of the pack though.
I must be looking at the wrong stats, because I'm seeing 14th in total TDs. They are slightly above Falcons, Browns, Giants, etc.

I was prepared for someone to bring up Jacobs and his impact on the offense, which he did impact. Despite that, the Raiders were still only 17th in rushing offense while still being 12th in passing offense.
So yes, Jacobs had a great year but we can’t discount Carr getting them the 12th best passing offense. Granted, that’s not a WOW factor but just a year before he had the 6th best offense and 7th best passing offense…without Gruden. Lot of people want to blame Carr for being below average with the addition of Adams. But there’s plenty of data to show maybe a large part of the Raiders sucking had to do with their D and McDaniels

They would have been in the playoffs had they kept Biasuca

Had they just protected a few of their 5 double digit halftime leads, they’d have been in playoffs. This with waller and Renfrow out most of the year.
McDaniels is a turd and ran carr into the ground. Dude threw 6 passes in second half against the Rams and tried plowing Jacobs into a top 5 rush D. He even called a halfback pass immediately after jacobs dislocated s finger on his throwing hand. Lol.
Fast forward to the playoff elimination game against Pittsburgh, Carrs last game, he chose to air it out at will in extremely cold and windy conditions. Carr threw 3 picks, 2 of which bounced off receivers hands, probably because it was like catching a rock.

3 in a row if memory serves me correctly. I'd be interested in seeing where his stats ranked league wide, 1st half vs 2nd half. If his 1st half stats are top 10 and his 2nd half stats are in the 20-30 range it would be pretty telling that play calling was the problem.

The data appears to say that the Raiders didn't hold him back in the 2nd half, but he did do a lot worse.
