We went the Daniel Jones route and hopefully it works for us.
What? If you get a slice of the playing time DJ got, as a second round pick (Slough), that's a win bro.

We will wait to break down the exact financial ramifications. But at the very least, the Saints will still need to be charged at least $40.132 million in dead money from Carr’s previous signing bonuses. But that figure would have been $80.132M in dead money if they were required to pay his full salary.
So likely somewhere between 40 and 80m?

At least he went out on a high note. Can’t say Brees would’ve walked away from a penny.

has given the organization zero support thru this entire process.
you mean besides that fact that he turned down the 30m and will also wait to file post June 1st, thus allowing the organization to split the cap hit over two years? THAT zero support?
You're being a little disingenuous, and that's putting it mildly.

Either this was mediated which is likely the case, or carr has way more screws loose than we all thought.
Hope he gets some help.
Doing the right thing is "screws loose"??? You people have no ethics and down right degenerates.

Carr doesn't deserve the hate. He didn't do the parades and such like others, but he wasn't a scandal riddled rapist, he never trash talked teammates on social media, and he just forewent 30 mil apparently.
He apparently is Christian and involved in church, he has obviously established roots in Vegas so it's fine for his heart to stay there, and with his injury and the miscarriage, I respect the heck out of his decision.
It was just bad timing all together. Post-Drew Brees, so the fans were spoiled over the years and had really changed since before Brees. But that first year Carr had awful body language, pouted during games, and seemed to bitch at teammates after plays. And the Saints fans just seemed to boo everything that season. I've never seen the Saints fans boo so much. Seemed like the opposite of home field advantage. Just a bad combo of things.
I have heard that he is a really nice guy off the field and he did have much better body language last year. I did love when he called out Michael Thomas for being the bitch that he was though when he said that he had love for Mike, but that Mike was the one teammate through all the years that he didn't get a long with (after Thomas blamed Carr for Olave getting injured). So that combined with retiring and saving the Saints $$$ leaves me with a nice feeling about him. It didn't work out, but he is helping the Saints out with this move.

We handed him 10 million in free money. Don’t buy the optics bro.

This was about to explode, it absolutely was medicated either by the NFL or on behalf of the NFL.

Carr did the Saints a solid by retiring. I will always appreciate him for doing that!

Have to wonder about insurance for career ending injury having some impact on either side

Sure, but Carr is getting some guarantees as well. Apparently the Saints are not going to contest bonus money (they could under a medical retirement) and what he is owed will be paid out under his terms.
Hey its a great result for all involved, which usually means mediation.

Carr ain’t 1/1000 of what Brees was to the Saints

No its hard to fathom any player would walk away from 30 million guaranteed.
None of you asswipes on this board including me wouldn’t. My opinions are usually 100% on target….
