Wouldn't hate it, but at what price?

Not sure. He's owed close to $20 million for next year (a bargain). Saints could trade for him if Raiders would want to start over with a new coach.

I'd trade a 1st and 3rd for Carr and resign him to a longer deal.

I like Carr but I can't help but feel more hesitant to make a move like this without Payton. I feel super confident Payton would level up Carr, but would Carmichael?

Exactly. If you brought in a offensive guy/qb guru and he was like I really want Carr and he’s attainable let’s get him that’s one thing. We’ve never seen Carmichael without Brees or Payton and only once where he didn’t have both.

Is Carr is better than (a healthy) Winston?

I put Carr, Winston, Cousins, all in the "Capable Above-Average Starters, Even Flashes Greatness, But Ultimately Doesn't Have IT" Club.

It'd be cheaper to just pay Winston, imo, w/o losing draft picks.

I like the idea of Carr in NOLA, but I think this is WAY more than he'd bring in a trade

More like maybe a 2

Carr is a franchise QB that just led his team to the playoffs. If Carson Wentz just netted a first rounder and he was a worthless sack of shite, you better believe it will take two good picks at least to get him.

Derek Carr had a really good season and really stepped up as a leader with all of the outside distractions that went on with Gruden getting fired and losing their best WR after he killed a person. They could have crumbled down the stretch but he really took ownership of the team and held it together. Carr would be an excellent choice if they choose to go in that direction.

Not sure why people still doubt Carmichael's ability as a QB coach. Payton trusted the guy for 16 years and at times took over play calling duties with little to no drop off. He wouldn't have stuck around for as long as he has if he didn't know what he was doing.

Isn’t he kinda weird and really preachy? That’d be hard to cheer for, but whatever.

Carmichael called plays when Payton broke his leg in 2011. Arguably best offense of all time that set a few NFL records. Called plays all of bounty gate and the saints finished 2nd in yards and 3rd in points in the NFL. No one would know the difference in Payton or Carmichael as far as playcalling goes
