Drew Brees, Jameis Winston working side-by-side at Saints’ 1st padded practice. Only 1 set of full-team drills in 90-minute session. Winston had 1 pass intercepted by PJ Williams after it bounced off rookie WR Juwan Johnson’s hands. Johnson made up for it later with nifty catch
Four players absent from Saints practice Monday: LG Andrus Peat, TE Josh Hill, LB Anthony Chickillo and DB Tino Ellis
Sean Payton said Saints rookie first-round draft pick Cesar Ruiz is working at RG for now, with Erik McCoy at center — though they could switch that to evaluate and train them at both spots.

PJ Williams has the play of day. Read a pass from deep middle of the field and picked it off after Juwan Johnson tipped the high pass from Jameis Winston/
Bad Day overall for the offense

Payton said he's had Tommy Stevens play both X and Y receivers, and he's doing well.
Payton on Emmanuel Sanders: Slowly but surely he's picking up the #Saints nuances, but he's a good player and good route-runner.

Payton said he loves Jameis Winston’s attitude and work ethic. You can tell Winston is a very vocal guy at practice, which is something I wrote down while watching earlier.

Looking forward to seeing what Trautman does in camp, I'm excited about that kid

E. Butler hype train is back! Seen some videos of him making very difficult catches.

Emmanuel Butler & Saquan Hampton were beasts in training camp last year.

Reading is hard.
Except it literally says it was a high pass.
The only thing thats going to be worse than the Winston-hate camp is the weird "im smarter than you cause im being positive about Winston" crew.

Could have been to high to get a good grip and bounce or a perfect catchable pass that hit him square in the hands.
But if it was a poor pass they didn't say.

If he'll have that same reaction when it happens to Brees or Hill, fine. There's an irrational hatred of Winston here when most of us are just eager to see what he'll do under CSP in this offense, and to see if the magic of lasik is still real.

Exactly... We've had some real crap at the backup spot for the longest time. Its nice to have some capable talent these last few years when we needed it.
The assumption for the longest time was we would be crap post Brees. Its nice to know we dont have to be provided Winston fixes a few things.

I raked fsu and JW over the coals for his seemingly unable to see anything play...
Hope the magic laser works for him but his biggest issue has always been simple maturity. I hope he works on that one as well.
There is a flood of irrational hate around here right now and only winning will shut it down.

Emmanuel butler has unreal talent.
Picking up the offense and being in the right place was his problem
Trautman. Cant wait, in the words of Bart scott

Nigel Bradham says he's finally with a winning organization despite winning a SB with the Eagles. As you can imagine their fans are taking it poorly.

bubble guys missing day 1? bold strategy, Cotton... let's see how it works out for them...

i think it will end up being Ruiz at C, one he gets all the calls down, along with more experience with snapping with Drew...

You can tell Winston is a very vocal guy
