Reid also made it clear that Smith wouldn't be backing up anybody in Kansas City. ''I'm going to tell you, every position we try to create competition,'' Reid said, ''but I'll also tell you, Alex is the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.''

Why would Chase leave the Saints to become the back up in Kansas City?

It's where he went to college plus 10 million other reasons. And Alex Smith still has major flop potential.

ask Kaepernick. Backing up Smith worked out ok for him.

Who would you rather compete with, Drew Brees or Alex Smith?

A lot reasons.

More money first of all.

A way better shot at playing with Smith ahead of him.

Andy Reid is a great coach. Especially with developing QBs.

Do you think he was going to make $3.33 million per season in N.O. or K.C.?

Yeah what a few others said. No shot he was getting more than a million a year from us. Also, not a chance he could be a starter here. The big question would have been why wouldn't he have gone to KC if he stayed here.

10 million over 3 years or league minimum staying as brees backup. I'd go with the cash flow and a chance at starting after alex smith gets injured

His contract pays him pretty well to be a backup and allows him to void the remainder of his contract if he throws for 2000+yards and 12+ TDs. And yeah, he has a decent shot to overtake Smith if he sucks, though I've been on the Smith to KC bandwagon ever since Kaepernick started kicking arse. SF and KC have similarly built teams, KC's defensive talent and great running game just haven't produced as much as SF's. And KC runs the ball a lot, but Smith also runs a decent amount himself, so there's always the injury potential.

I really feel sorry for the Chiefs. They've never been able to lock up a good QB. Even this year, with picking number one, there just isn't a lot of standout, sure-fire QBs in the draft or FA. Last year everyone knew who was going number 1 and 2.

I think the Daniels pick up was a good choice. They are taking a chance on both him and Alex Smith, but by finding 2 QBs that don't command a large salary, you can just play the best of the two and do your best to move on. Given what's out there right now, they made a good decision.

Because, the KC people are probably excited about having him. And if Smith struggles, which he will, the fans will call for Chase. Thats his people.

he wanted to get out from underneath drew's shadow and flash his big dick in the land of his college success where he banged down hoes and receivers left and right.

Alex Smith as the starter plus Andy Reid as the head coach equals "keep your helmet close by"
