How that guy has managed to stay on practice squad is mind blowing

camp arm is my guess. I'm more concerned at how he actually gets on a gameday roster.

In the words of Sir-"cumference" Charles Barkley, that dude is just turrible! And he plays before McCown which is even more mind boggling. Luke isn't great but he at least looks like he played qb at the high school level before.

did any of you have this moment...

Canfield was shitting on the field, CST cut to Carmichael chatting with Vitt, it really looked like Petey could have been saying, "I think we've seen enough of this guy. Let's see is McCown has anything."

Sure enough, next series McCown was in.

I'm all for a new developmental project. That or someone that will seriously challenge Daniel for backup. A big deal for Daniel as a backup is that he is at $1mil+ in cost, will be a UFA, and will want to explore a chance to compete to start somewhere.

There's some vets that might be had that would challenge Daniel. At this point in the process I don't think they wanna inject a new guy as #2. McCoy in Cleveland, Young or Thigpen in Buffalo, even LUKE McCown in Chicago, etc. There's plenty others that might hit the street but not PS eligible.

For younger guys it's harder to forecast availability cuz many will be PS stashed (like the Canfield role). Someone like Lindley in AZ or McElroy NYJ, for example, could be upgrades though.

suggesting it

prolly another week ahead of enduring the pain.

Anyone else think his delivery is kinda funky? He comes straight overhead with a stiff looking arm.

Dude, Chase Daniel is not starting in this league. He is doing what he does best. Hold Drew's towel and make hand signals. He's the new Jason Garrett. He'll probably coach the Saints in 20 years.

He looks really unnatural, almost uncomfortable making throws. It's tough to watch. There is nothing fluid about his game, and he does not look like anything close to a quarterback.

Chase Daniel

Has always reminded me of Sean Payton. Good college player, Back-up or fill in (in SP's case), and smart enough to become a succesfull coach one day.

Payton wants to have a left handed QB in camp to throw the ball to have the WR's catch the ball from a different release point.

Daniel isn't going to sniff a starting spot at this point. He is not a guy who is viewed like Kevin Kolb or Matt Flynn were when they were backing up Vick and Rogers. You are way off the mark on that.

He would have to fill in for Brees for multiple weeks this year and play great for that to happen.

chase daniel has looked pretty terrible when given the chances also.

Id prefer to have an old vet at backup, like delhomme or somebody. someone that has had some kind of success in the league.

Delhomme? Seriously? He's 81 years old.

Daniel has done OK at times. McCown can be the 3rd.

Canfield should be canned from the field.

Daniel isn't a very good decision maker, and he has happy feet. The last game he stared down Higgins on a crossing route and one of the linebackers was able to get a hand on it, and then the SS batted it 7-10 times before he caught it.
