Please no Tate at 8

Why?

He is a near elite route runner against man coverage. Which is extremely valuable in the modern NFL. He is Dan Harmon’s 7th best charted against Man… since 2021. He’s absolutely elite at the catch point. No drops. 91% contested catch rate. He reminds me alot of a bigger Devonta Smith. He’s not quite as explosive but they both are extremely reliable targets downfield and have zero holes in their game.

He needs to get bigger and have more play strength but he has about the safest floor you can ask for IMO. I know it’s popular to hate on him but I wouldn’t hate the pick. It would allow them to attack defense in the 2nd and 3rd round.

I’d be fine with Tate or Lemon. Picking Tyson is my real concern. How many early picks do we lose to availability? Durability has to be a huge factor IMO.

Edge is premium position so I see us going for Bain (I prefer Bailey but he'll be gone). But if there is doubt about Bain then go Delane or Downs.

Bain is dropping, he screams bust

Loomis has shown time and time again that, given the chance, he will take a DL or OL in the first. The pick is Bain if he is there. Downs is a great chess piece to have, but not necessarily needed. Tate is a good receiver, but there is a ton of value in the 2nd for a similar receiver.

Bain has bust written all over him. In fact, he’s the one pick I would be less than thrilled about. That means the Saints will draft him. Edge rushers in the first round are a magnet to Loomis despite repeated busts.

Oh well….

We keep talking about Bain at edge, but he isn't a 3-4 OLB.

Has anyone heard the organization say that he can stand up and fast enough to play that?

Cam Jordan played that role last year and he’s heavier than Bain.
