Sold his house uptown to maintain a residence at Four Seasons, but will get the hell out. He did it in a nice way so he doesn’t look like the bad guy, but will be opponent come 2023.

I'd get the hell out of New Orleans. That place is a horrible place to live. I remember back in 2005 literally a week before Katrina my father and I got lost in those shitty ghetto neighborhoods around the Superdome, looking for the USCIS building. Stopped and asked for directions and not one fricker offered to help. Just gave a sideways look as they were passing by. Never stepped foot in that shithole again.

So you left a city because somebody didn’t give you directions? Huh

Winning the Super Bowl? 'Cause that appears to be his ceiling.

And that was 12 years ago. He hadn’t been able to replicate that since.

You will not get any logical responses on this board, Hurricane.

I don’t expect to. Just think it’s funny that people think Payton is riding off into the sunset. He’s 58 and is going to attract upwards of $15m to coach. His kids are in their 20s so it’s not like he’s leaving to go be a dad. This was the nicest way to say, “I want to explore other options”.

He knows he won’t find the next Brees anytime soon, and he’s leaving before people realize he can’t win a Super Bowl or even seriously contend for one without a top-flight QB. Hell, he only won one with a HOF QB because he mismanaged at least three playoff games that had he not lost he might have won the Super Bowl those years. He also had four losing seasons with Drew Brees. That’s hard to do.

Let quit calling this a resignation. The job got harder when Brees left and he experienced a year of and quit. Let’s call it what it is: He quit.
