From all indications Payton sounds like he is here as long as they keep him.

He basically said that as long as he is here the window will always be slammed open, but understands that with certain players(Brees) the window may be closing.

That statement said everything.

I think when Brees leaves Payton is gone...He is not one of those coaches to take 2-3 years to develop another QB unless he's an Andrew Luck or something or they draft someone earlier who steps in and is somewhere in the Aaron Rodgers type career.

I've said it before.

People are antsy about the draft.

My nerves is bad bro

But seriously, that makes no sense... CSP is one of the youngest coaches in the league... Why wouldn't he want to try to develop a QB?

I have thought this had good long term possibilities where he would be learning from Drew. But I think the money is so high to get him the franchise will not want to wait to develop him, so I do not see it working out. Who ever gets him wants him playing quickly. Essentially they will want to feed the fan base interest as quickly as possible, whether you like him, which I do, or you don't, you are still interested in seeing him play, at least initially.

I would have worded it differently and added in a IMO.

I read it and thought you were an idiot too. I mean, why wouldn't Sean want to prove himself with another qb? No one knows. Would seem weak to jump ship just because he no longer has a qb.

I stated it in reference to something I read or heard in the past and I want to say it was discussed on this board...For some reason I have always been under the assumption that when Brees retires Sean is gone...maybe its the Jimmy Graham quote of Brees retires he retires that got me....

He was doing that with Romo. Payton has no issue with wanting to develop another QB. In fact I think he looks forward to trying to develop these young guys we bring in.

Now if you want to say once Brees retires the team will tank and Payton will get fired that's another thing, but the only people that tried to claim that Payton goes when Brees goes are the nutso Cowboy fans or people that hate Payton.

I was talking about all the talk from before(which is where you said you developed that opinion). Especially after bounty gate, people were saying Payton would bolt first chance he got and take Drew with him, or leave for the Cowboys, or quit as soon as Drew did.

I know you're one of the good guys. And I know opinions differ(and appreciate that fact) but I really don't agree with the notion Payton is done when Brees is. Everything I've seen/heard says otherwise.

Offensive minded head coaches usually stay away from "wing it/improv" playmakers like JFF and Russel Wilson because they want the success of their offense to be about the system, not about the quarterback (and his feet).

Defensive minded guys are more prone to look at guys like that because they respect how difficult they are to defend. Unless Payton thinks JFF could be a pure pocket passer (which he very well could), I doubt we see this pick.

Who fricking really cares! Brees has 2 solid seasons left! JFF could learn from him and be what Farve did for Rodgers!

I think that's something Jeff Duncan said.

Congrats. You're Jeff Duncan's bitch.

If the Saints drafted him, I would seriously consider no longer being a Saints fan.

I'm probably not the only one.
