You can, but any already paid guarantees in future years automatically accelerate to the current year, which means in this specific instance it would be incredibly hard to trade him now (we'd basically have to max out restructuring everyone else possible, and then be barely able to sign all of our rookies, and only able to sign vet minimum FAs).
Unless he is traded post June 1st, which then keeps future paid guarantees off the cap until next year.

For the millionth and one time, he has a no trade clause. No reason he waives it.

If for some reason a contender wants to trade for him, he might. But that likely means their franchise qb went down, so unlikely until preseason.

Unacceptable.
This franchise is a laughingstock.

We've had way worse QBs than Carr so I'm not bothered. Would rather start fresh but that wasn't happening.

I mean, Carr isn’t super great but under the right coaching Imad system showed he could lead a team to the playoffs. Hell, he did it with the dysfunctional raiders of all teams.
With a now offensive minded head coach that has proven his worth, he may be useful if they can get some solid talent around him, and that means a better #1 WR than Olave.
If he has a decent OL, he will do fine.
Is he a long term solution? No, but as a medium term as you bring in a legit prospect to take over, he can be.

Yup, that 27 cap space the face painters were crowing about (with only 12 contracts) just got its 13th contract tonight and what a borrow it is!
That space is dwindling quickly.
Sell and move this shitshow!

Ideally this lets us get to June 1 and cut some elderly contracts.
Yep…too many old Saints on the payroll in the final years of their playing careers that get hurt easily and are dead money for the rest of the season.

Carr wanted to pursue other opportunities but wasn’t willing to give up a single dollar. Saints couldn’t let him go because they fricked themselves cap wise.
He doesn’t want to be here. Fans hate his guts. Saints have no choice but to bring him back. Might even draft a replacement.
Gonna be a disastrous year

This. Carr is unlikable and a very average QB, but at least he isn't one of the Billy Joe's, or Dave Wilson, or Heath Shuler, or Danny Weurffel, or Aaron Brooks.
Some of you have short memories, or are too young to really know what its like to be a Saints fan.

Correct of course. If we had a team full of Carr level players, we’d be in the wildcard round of the playoffs every year.
The guy is not great, but he is a legit starter at the position. I don’t see how the Saints could just cut him with that cap hit and expect the team to be ok with it. Like him or not, he is the O leader of this team. I still say that he gets this year with the new staff, and then you reevaluate. He probably won’t start every game because of some injury, and when that happens it will hopefully factor into what happens with him in 26.
Those of you wanting the Saints to collapse for some can’t miss rookie prospect are kidding yourselves. Carr alone doesn’t make this a 8-9 win team. He is an average starter. If the Saints go 9-8 or 10-7 next year, I’d be surprised and thrilled. They are obviously on path to improvement. This team is more likely 6-11 or 5-12, and that will be it for Carr. If they do even worse? Then you can have your top 5 pick, and Carr is a distant memory.

Falcons, Bucs, and Panthers are so happy.

At least back then those were not disastrous 40 million dollar mistakes that handicapped the salary cap.
I think back then the Saints were cheapskates and stayed way under it, but it definitely showed up with a lack of talent on the field.
