Can't we all agree that Bush is a bust in this sense......

I see a bunch of threads on here debating whether Bush is a bust or not. I think this is a good summary of both sides of the argument....
For bust...
1. Ranks very low in the league as far as running back stats go.
2. Fumbles and drops passes too much.
3. Team wins more without him.
4. Was drafted as a running back, not WR or PR.
5. Makes too much money to return punts.
Against Bust....
1. Good PR and WR.
2. Scored most TD's in NFL before injury.
3. Defenses must respect his open field capabilities.
4. His name alone has brought attention to the Saints.
I see both sides of the debate but hasn't he ultimately been a bust for the following reasons. Many experts predicted he would be a pro-bowler, possible MVP candidate. The day of the draft everyone was dogging on the Texans because they believed Bush would be the best player in the NFL. A gem that only comes along every 20 or so years. To me he has fallen well short of these expectations and it doesn't look like he will ever meet them. Doesn't this equal bust?

He is F'ing Kim K so in my eyes he is no bust

I don't care where he was drafted and couldn't care less how much money he makes.
All I know is the team is better with him on the roster than not. So he's not a bust, in my view.

But is he living up to your initial expectations?

Is he living up to my expectations? All I care about is total production. Dude scores touchdowns. That's enough for me.

Reggie is a successful nfl player. How in the frick can you call him a bust?? Seriously.

He did play a huge role in the Saints winning the NFC South and going to the NFC chmpnshp game his rookie year.
Don't forget Gramatica's missed FG's in both the Denver & Minnasota games, which ruined all 3 of Reggie's PR's this season. If it wasn't for such a lousy kicking game early in the season, Reggie could have been the sole reason for 2 more wins than we have right now...especially the Vikings game. Then everybody would be praising him b/c he would have played a big role in putting us in the playoffs.
If Sean P could just committ to running the ball more with PT it would open up more opportunities for Reggie to make plays. Kinda like his rookie year in 06'.....Deuce dictated how the offense went and therefore Reggie thrived!

In no way is Bush a bust, not even close. He is a big play possibility everytime he touches teh ball.....that being said, he touches the ball too damn much. Payton gameplans around Bush and thats why we win without him. Bush doesn't call the plays he just runs them. Payton is the bust. He has tunnelvision with his playcalling and cannot seem to do anything creative unless it involves Bush. Bush should return punts and line up in the slot. Every now and then throw him a bone in the backfield but in no way should he be our starting back.....NO WAY.

just because he doesn't live up to extreme expectations, that doesn't make him a bust. he is an explosive, productive player in the nfl. i don't think that not meeting some very high expectations makes a player a bust-no production at all does.
jonathan sullivan = bust
are they really comparable?

I'm not ready to say Reggie's a bust, but couldh't we use that money to pay an OL, DL, LB, and/or safety we badly need on denense?

I don't think Reggie is a bust but he has definitely not lived up to the hype coming out of USC. Hes an east west runner so rather than run through the defense he tries to get around it which doesn't work most of the time. But he is great when Brees gets the ball to him down the side lines. I also love seeing him returning punts. Last year was tough because we tried to use Reggie as an every down back which he is not. SP has to find a way to get the running game going with PT and Reggie.

Fail..Lets not manipulate the stats...The only team we played with a winning record without Bush was Atlanta and we got rolled by the Dirty Birds
Also, he played great against Minnesota, Denver, and Washington and we should have won those games

when teams game plan for you, you arent a bust
Posted on 12/4/08 at 7:44 pm to Tweezy
if he's a bust then over half the nfl is a bust

You are absolutely right. What makes it worse is that they all seem to be Saints "fans"
