Can trades involve salary cap relief ?

So my nephew brought up a question, that I was not sure about.
I know when Tampa traded for Gruden, the Raiders got pics and cash....
Just was curious if example
Arizona took Payton and in conjunction took Mike Thomas and some of his dead money that the Saints would owe.
Was wondering if that could actually happen? Not sure what the collective bargaining agreement states

I believe you can’t trade players for coaches, so no players could be included in any deal.

Yes. Houston traded with Denver years ago for Brock Osweiler and cash relief and pick.
Gruden was traded for picks and cash as well

iirc the cash relief is just paying a portion of the players salary.
Af far was trading a player out. again iirc the trading team will not carry any dead money on a players contract that was traded, that money is transferred to the acquiring team dead money only happens if the player retires or is cut.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm mistakes.

Cash will be monies needed to fire/rehire a new coaching staff, nothing to do with players salary cap.

IF i was Gayle, i would take the first round pick and a load of cash. Apply the cash to the luxury tax on the Pels.

Yes Cash relief goes toward salary or bonus that has already been paid to player.
So say someone did trade for Thomas we would be doing it for relief, so we might get a 4th and $5 million in relief.
We would still carry the $10 million and the new club would essentially have his $1.65 million salary for 2023 and $5 million on their books. They can pay that $5 million anywhere over the contract.
