I agree with the iron man, but I don’t know about HOF. Was he ever so disruptive that teams really needed to plan for him? I think he’s a great player and a great guy, but Derrick Thomas? No. Dwight Freeney? No.

I don’t think either of them should be in the HOF either honestly.

No shot at 7 more sacks and cracking top 15 this year.

MAYBE another year he'd get it, but the fact he's still productive says a lot about how talented he is.

I'm going to come back and say, I was wrong and should never had doubted him.

Dude has an outside shot.

Cam Ward is on the menu. Cam might get a couple sacks in that one. Would be fitting if he reached 130 against the Falcons in week 17.

I think Jordan is better than Freeney. Freeney was a somewhat of a pass rushing specialist and benefited from having an all time great pass rusher on the other side of him in Robert Mathis. Freeney could be a liability in the run game.

Jordan has never played with a great pass rushing threat other than Trey Hendrickson, and that year Cam Jordan was a first team all pro and 4th in defensive player of year voting.

And Jordan has been an elite run stuffer his entire career in the end.

Edited - I misremembered the timing of Hendrickson big season. I’m still sticking by my general point. Can > Freeney

Correct. That in and of itself is almost HOF worthy.

I think he would be at 135 if Allen hadn't tried to make him a DT last season

Can > Freeney

as an overall DE, yes, it's not even a question...

but in terms of just as a pass rusher, i gotta go with Freeney...

After yesterday he passed up Derrick Thomas on the all-time sack list

impressive!

Correct. That in and of itself is almost HOF worthy.

And one of those misses was because of a bullshite Covid test in 2021. League would not allow him to retest in time to try and play.

If he doesn't miss that game, I wonder if he tries to play through the eye (orbital bone) injury in 2022.

Outside shot at cracking top 15 before years end. Would need 133 and pass Rickey Jackson

Pro football reference has Rickey's official number at 128 (tied with Cam), and his unofficial number at 136.

The 2 ahead of him on the list are LT & Leslie O'Neil (not in HOF) both with 132.5.

For ~5 year span, he was arguably a complete top 5 DE. He played the run, he was an above average rusher, and attacked passing lanes.

What was it, one of 2 players who had a triple double (10+ sacks, 10+ PD, and 10+ TFL) in a single year.

I’ve got nothing against the guy. It’s just HOF? To me that is for the elite guys only. Not for playing a million consecutive games, not for being pretty good for 10+ years.
Was Jordan elite? My answer is no. But there are probably many guys in the HOF that I think should not be there, so what the hell do I know?

How many were saying Cam was done. I'm sticking with him until he says he is done.

Yeah, Cam is turning in a good season so far.

He's leading the team in quarterback sacks and tackles for losses currently.

I mean really good for him. But it also still shows that if some of your older players like cam and demario are still doing most of the heavy lifting, what does that say about your younger players?

I think majority here would agree with this, with a small percentage that may have him in that elite category due to his run & pass play abilities.

And this is where the "Should Cam get in the HoF?" conversations go. He is not part of that elite crowd that should be a 1st ballot guy. But based on the standards that have been shown over the past few decades, IMO he belongs in the HoF.

As Dieon has said, it is now a free for all and is now the Hall of Very Good. Cam belongs here; he would just be excluded from the "different color jacket and/or upper room" conversations.

Cam’s HOF candidacy and legacy might be hurt the most by the no call.

The saints were a good to very good defensive team from 2017-2023.

If they cashed in a Super Bowl in 2018 against the Pats than Cam Jordan is the defensive star of a Super Bowl winning defense.

It’s puts him over the top as it likely will Von Miller.

I called Cam done…completely washed up.

But if he ends up with 10 sacks, he really shouldn’t retire.
