Wtf Atlanta is in first and we’re nearly halfway through the season. My sportsbook was offering odds on them to go winless before the season started too

maybe at the end of the year, when everyone in the division is 5-12.......we can form an all star team from the division to enter the playoffs.

No. Carolina is 2-5. If Atlanta wins they have sole possession. If Carolina wins it is at least a 3 way tie at 3-5. If the saints win too it would be a 4 way tie.

If Carolina beats Atlanta, the would own all division tiebreakers so they would be first

Carolina is 2-0 in the division, so they are the team to beat if they beat Atlanta.

Sole possession means that you have the best record with no tiebreakers. So if Atlanta wins, they have sole possession of first place in the south. If Carolina wins, they are first place with tie breakers not with sole possession.

If all teams in division have a losing record they need to adjust qualification formula. No teams with losing record should be in any playoffs in any sport.
