Is there a player in the upcoming draft that'd be worth tanking for if Brees is injured?

If Brees is injured we won't need to tank

He had a hidden injury all year last year that clearly affected his deep ball. His deep ball was bad after he got banged up..

Favre was back throwing a few months after too at an older age than brees

It also depends on the severity.

A torn labrum is considered one of the worst injuries in sports, especially for pitchers

The difference is Favre didn’t suffer a major shoulder injury previously like Brees has already. Secondly, Drew also a had a partially torn rotator cuff as well as a torn labrum when Dr. Andrews repaired his shoulder. A second tear of the rotator cuff in any fashion would be extremely tough to comeback from for Brees.

quote:

More than 1,700 miles away in Birmingham, renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews watched a replay of Brees going down. "I thought, my God, what an injury," says Andrews. Four days later he examined Brees and diagnosed a rare 360-degree tear of the labrum, the ring of cartilage around the entry to the shoulder joint. During surgery Andrews discovered a deep, partial rotator cuff tear. He says the damage in Brees's shoulder joint represented "one of the most unique injuries of any athlete I've ever treated."

Andrews and two other surgeons mended the labrum with the unheard-of total of 11 surgical anchors (three or four is common) and also repaired the rotator cuff.
The 90-minute procedure was performed arthroscopically--a godsend for Brees. If the doctors had had to cut through shoulder tissue, his recovery would have been prolonged by months.

Still, Brees faced an arduous rehabilitation, with long odds. "Lord, I was just hoping to give him a functional shoulder," says Andrews. "An average athlete would not recover from this injury."

James Andrew handed Brees off to Kevin Wilk, a physical therapist and clinical director at Benchmark-Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham who has been rehabbing Andrew's patients for 18 years. "Dr. Andrews told me, 'You've got your work cut out for you,'" Wilk says. "I had never seen an injury this severe in any elite-level throwing athlete. We were in uncharted waters."

If Brees did tear his rotator cuff again, you are kidding yourself if you think the chances are high of his arm being the same this time around.

I've always wondered if that arm was just giving out over the last few years, how catastrophic the injury was. I mean, almost ten years throwing as much as he has and no problems? Miraculous wouldn't do it justice.

That would obviously depend on the severity

But from reading that post, a reasonable tear would likely have a higher chance of being successful since that was "one of the most unique injuries of any athlete I've ever treated."

If brees had a torn rotator cuff, the arm sling would be a dead giveaway

Drew isn't out for the season. He got hit really hard so excuses are being made for his shite play. He'll play next week

If not for two lucky breaks, drew Brees is sitting at 0 TDs through two weeks. Bottom line: the playcalling sucks, his receivers suck, his line sucks, and brees is well past his prime

No it does not. Read the article above. Brees had a partial tear of his rotator cuff well before the play where he tore his labrum. There are different severities & posters like you keep assuming it has to be a complete tear.

Saints Fans News & Radio Show
According to Barry Hirstius, the Editor and Columnist for the Big Easy Believer and one of our hosts here with the Saints Fans News & Radio Show Network (Big Easy Blitz) on Tuesday Nights, word is that Saints QB Drew Brees has suffered a "significant injury" in yesterday's game vs. Tampa Bay that is rumored to be a torn rotator cuff and may be OUT for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Barry tells us that as soon as he gets CONFIRMATION FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE, he will let us know one way or another; and then we will let all of you know. Keep your fingers crossed, Saints fans !!!!!!!!

This just came through my Facebook feed. Who the frick is Barry and what is his "reliable source"? Saints Talk?

Understandable but that was also 10 years ago when Brees was in what's the peak physical age for a male. He isn't in that range anymore & this would possibly be a second a tear which always lessens the chances of a complete recovery.

On Twitter, you can find Big Easy Believer Editor and Columnist Barry Hirstius @HarahanWhoDat ..... Barry Hirstius is a 47 year old former professional journalist, who recently agreed to come out of "retirement". He is now a Grandfather of 2 beautiful little girls, and a long-time New Orleans Saints fan for over 40 years. A native of New Orleans who now resides in the Midwest (Indiana, in the heart of Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts country), he sometimes goes by the nickname of "HarahanWhoDat"; a nod to the suburb of New Orleans that he grew up in as a kid. He has both laughed as well as cried throughout the years, over the exploits of both good and bad with his beloved hometown team; and his wish is to see the Saints win another Super Bowl --- a wish that originally began when his beloved "Paw Paw" took him to his first-ever Saints game at the old Tulane Stadium in uptown New Orleans, on his 6th birthday back in 1973......

You're missing my point. I'm not disagreeing that he's going to heal as well as he would have back then

I'm suggesting that this injury would likely be much, much less severe
