Drew has thrown for over 4,000 yards in 12 straight seasons, every season with Payton in New Orleans. He currently sits at 3,666 yards, which means he needs 334 yards to get to 4,000.

Is it possible he doesn't get there this year and one of the greatest streaks in NFL history is snapped? I say it's possible, but only if the Saints beat the Steelers this week. If Drew throws for 280 to 300 yards this week, and the Saints are able to pull out the win, they clinch the No. 1 seed. Drew likely sits out Game 16. He would end the regular season around 3,970 yards.

Just thought it was interesting to think about.

SP has shown he's aware of records when it comes to Drew. I could easily see where we'd let him play a drive or two, hit his mark to get that column checked off for the year and then jerk the starters and get them healthy.

Almost a 2nd or 3rd preseason game type deal.

Yes, I thought about that. I'm not sure if that's the type of record he would do that for, but yes, he might do that.

Also, it probably depends on how close he is, right? Like, if he only throws for 230 this week, he would still need 100+. Again, with how good the Steelers defense is, and how much the offense has struggled, is totally possible. But, I do think they get better being at home.

He hasn't sniffed 300 in over a month ... doubt he is close in week 17

He's going to wreck the Steelers so he can sit the last game. It's going to be a straight up air assault.

i think its pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point that he wont get there. only irrational fanboys will claim otherwise.

steelers game i expect to go much like this last game, low scoring game by both teams settled with field goals and we pull out a hard fought win.

"asuming" they beat the steelers, the carolina game should be a day off for brees, if he plays it would be much like this last game for us but cam sits out so they have a decent chance to beat us if cam isnt there to lose the game for them

Good lord we got some bitches on this site.

Brees hits 4,000 this Sunday.

We just went through a 3 game road stretch that we all knew would be rough at this point in the season. It was discussed at length in all of the preseason threads.

We came out 2-1 and gained a game towards the 1 seed while doing it.

We are fine. Brees is fine.

I think the Pittsburgh game is going to be a shootout and Brees will get his yards this week.

Brees cares about the number 2, as in his 2nd Super Bowl Ring.

Who cares about some stupid 4000 yard streak. We are trying to win a SB. You sit drew game 17 if we have locked up #1 seed. Some of you people are just dumb.

Why the frick can't people voice a rational opinion that may not be positive about the Saints without being called miserable or a bitch?

The OP's scenario is entirely plausible.

Or what if he goes out and plays terrible against the Steelers only getting like 150-200 passing yards and then is forced to play against the Panthers so secure HFA. Then he'll get over 4000 yards.

I’d put money on him throwing for 350 this weekend. What’s his career average in the dome in a big spot?

This offense has always been built for the dome. Yes, we have improved the run, ball control game often needed to win on the road, but at the end of the day we have always been a shite ton better at home in the dome on offense. I feel like it’s always been at least 2x as good as on the road. The past few weeks were just a bit more extreme...impacted by some tough circumstances.

Brees 350+ yards 3 TD’s
Kirkwood 6+ rec 100+yards
Thomas - the usual numbers at home.
Kamara - usual home numbers
Ingram - usual overall numbers

Comeptive early but becomes a blowout by mid 3rd.

Choppa chop...chopppa chop...
