Sources: The #Falcons are hiring #Rams pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson as their new OC under Raheem Morris.

One of the most popular interviews on the OC circuit, Robinson was Morris’ top choice.

Good hire by Atlanta. Not sure about HC hire though

I think that was one of the main reasons for the hire. Not because he’s a great coach but because he can hire a great staff.

Why not just hire robinson as HC if that's the thinking?

Most likely because he’s not ready to manage a whole team. Also, Morris can hire a great offensive staff as well as being a pretty good defensive coach. Not to mention coaches and players love him so he’s a great recruiter for upcoming coaches and big time players.

I've learned to not say who will or won't be successful, but if I'm hiring a coach, I want the best guy at HC... I wouldn't hire a guy bc of who will follow bc coaches leave. SF and LA stay successful bc the best coach is the HC

You’re right but there’s a bit more to it. Mcvay and Shanny are also successful because they are good at picking and grooming coaching talent. Look at how many coordinators and HCs are in the league from their tree.

On the flip side, Eagles weren’t as good after both coordinators left and filled them with terrible replacements.

And furthermore, they are doing a good job of grooming their next OC, like Cincy did with promoting their QB coach to OC. Falcons will have to do the same.

Damn he was who i wanted for the Saints. I think now it’s most likely down to Ronald Curry and Jerrod Johnson.

If this is who the Saints land on, their OC search will be considered an utter failure.

Have see a lot of comments from players and other coaches to believe this is true. But, statistically I question this
quote:

as being a pretty good defensive coach

Morris’ defenses:
2009: TB HC 27th(yards) & 27th(points)
2010: TB HC 17th(y) & 9th(p)
2011: TB HC 30th(y) & 32nd(p)
2020: Atl DC/HC 29th(y) & 19th(p)
2021: LAR DC 17th(y) & 15th(p)
2022: LAR DC 19th(y) & 21st(p)
2023: LAR DC 20th(y) & 19th(p)

Agreed. But I never said that he was a great defensive coach lol. I mean considering the lack of talent on defense besides Aaron Donald they were okay.

Overall, I think Morris is an average to solid head coach that needs to stay grooming and keeping talented coaches in order to be successful. Can he sustain that is the question.

Morris is a leader of men and a delegator, that's what's most important in a HC.

Morris might be DA 2.0.
