Jay Glazer.......

quote:

“I did talk to him and he’s stunned to say the least,” Glazer said. “I think the entire team thought maybe there’d be a four-game suspension, but not a year. I said, ‘Are you OK?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not OK.’ He is stunned. He’s going to lose about $8 million. He is beside himself here.”

So, Comrade Goodell, will any other teams be punished since all had pay for performance plans of some sort?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Can Payton and Loomis appeal the decision and remain active with the team while the appeal is ongoing?

Yeah, anyone that thinks this is a "short term" deal is in denial. This is huge... The biggest penalties ever. And definitely could vault the Saints back to mediocrity.

this is a blow that will likely be felt for years to come. This hurts the Saints in 2012, hurts the Saints in PR, hurts the Saints in attracting FAs, hurts the Saints with officials, hurts the Saints in the upcoming drafts. It hurts all around and the affects will not be temporary.

Could you imagine the treatment Goodell would get in N.O if the Saints somehow won the Super Bowl next year since it's at the Dome. It would be biblical, and boy oh boy I would love to see it happen.

Goodell and the NFL were certainly determined to keep the home team out of the Superbowl. Now, let's see what kind of man Drew is. Will he stick around and help us through adversity or will he bolt when times get tough?

Serious question...Is there any way SP could be some sort of "paid offensive consultant" for LSU in 2012?

frick the NFL and that fricking douchebag commissioner. I know we fricked up, but a whole fricking year?! Are you fricking kidding me? The NFL and Goodell are making it harder and harder for me to be a fan. If it weren't for the Saints, I probably wouldn't give a shite about the NFL. This is so over the top and ridiculous.

If Sean Payton is suspended for a year, then Gregg Williams should never be allowed to coach again.

This is terrible. I have confidence Pete C can come in a run this team but this does not look good for brees contract situation. Attracting FA may not take a hit because at the end of the day it is still about money and if we can pay they will play. I hope we stay strong and use this as motivation. Anyone who days Drew will bolt is a fricking idiot he is God in Louisiana and would be stupid to leave.
