Uh, WTF are you smoking, 2019 “No good QB’s in the draft at all”.

Ah yes, the NFL draft of Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock, Will Grier, Ryan Finley, Jarrett Stidham, Easton Stick, Gardner Minshew, and Trace McSorley.

My apologies for forgetting that absolute HOF-level QB class.

2018 - Could have gotten Lamar Jackson. Trading up for Davenport was a clear disaster move.

Worse than missing on Mahomes bc you could’ve actually drafted him had you stayed put. CSP worked him out and liked him too.

The predraft threads on Lamar are great

No. Lamar is 2-4 in the playoffs. What's Maholmes record? Regular season LJ is very good but come playoffs, I want a different QB.

The problem is that from 2018 on, there were very few QBs that panned out that were available for the Saints.

Well you’re making a stupid assumption that we would be drafting from the same spot as we did when we weren’t going after a qb. You can tank late season for a better spot or you can always trade up if you have to. You’re also assuming that every qb that failed to pan out would also fail in New Orleans which is probably an ok assumption to make but it’s definitely not a guarantee.

My complaint isn’t that we missed out on a Mahomes, Lamar, burrow, love, stroud, hurts, lawerence, daniels, etc. my complaint is that we never even tried. We won’t give ourselves a chance. We won’t put our names in the hat.

We paid $150 million for a guy that is as close to a guaranteed loser as you can get. And he’s been in the league for over a decade so it’s not like he’s a long term answer even if he was good (which he isn’t). Not only did we buy a guaranteed loser but we gave him top dollar when there were zero other suitors. I mean our gm doesn’t even understand the basics of supply and demand.

Demand for Carr was ZERO. And Loomis gave him everything he asked for How fkin dumb do you have to be. It’s actually hilarious if you really think about it.

You should probably start with blaming yourself for being so emotionally invested in the team that you feel the need to "cash in receipts" any time you finally get something right. What makes this thread even worse is the fact that none of us that come here to discuss our opinions about the Saints have any say whatsoever in any of the decisions the front office makes.

Do you really think if the board all came together and said it's time to dump Brees for Brady, the results would have changed?

Had we all said let's be aggressively and get our QB now and dump Jameis and not sign Dalton, we'd be riding with Pickett, Ridder, Willis...or any of the other QBs drafted in 2022?

If we all protested the Saints meeting with Carr, they would have signed anyone else?

"Brees chokes against Brady in the playoffs.."

If Jared Cook doesn't fumble that ball as we were driving down the field late in the 3rd qtr its a completely different game

Saints head into the 4th qtr up by 2 TDS would have eliminated the bucs run game, which was dominant in the 2nd half of that game

It’s not a “who is better?” You simply could’ve stayed put, or even traded down, to take Jackson.

Oh no. We haven’t made the playoffs in 4 seasons. Let’s start there

Lamar Jackson doesn't get us in the playoffs. That's a fact.

This board & site overall is always great for some shite takes.

The consistency in which the correct opinion is initially shunned on here is laughable. This really may be the dumbest fan base in all of sports. And to make it worse they’ll double down on their shite opinions when proven wrong, making them impossible to converse with. And there are hundreds of them who upvote each others posts which makes them feel like they’re right.

a fact huh?

Did you derive that fact from his near 70% win rate or his multiple MVP trophies?

Lamar probably starts as early as 2020 and we don’t lose to the Bucs

The fact this team stays injured, has no WRs, oline, or dline. Lmar Jackson would not win shite here. We aren't a QB away from being a contender. We're a bottom feeder team.

Right. Won’t disrespect Brees but ‘18 and ‘19 would have also been interesting

In 2021 we still had the 4th ranked defense and went 9-8 with four different QBs

In 2022 you still had the 9th ranked defense with Dalton and Winston as your QBs

In 2023 you still had the 9th ranked defense and the softest schedule in NFL history but Carr was your QB

The threads for Mahomes & Lamar were entertaining. Mahomes was intriguing because the initial draft reports after the 2016 season ended placed him as a second or third rounder.

It wasn't until the Combine & Pro Day workouts that his stock soared but even still, Mahomes was being mentioned as a mid to late first round pick. All the first round QB discussions revolved around Mitch Trubusky & DeShaun Watson. (Lol @ the Bears )

Any pre draft talk of Mahomes here was met with he would be a bust because he played in an air raid system at Texas Tech or that we already had Drew & Drew said he would play until he was 45 which was even ridiculous to believe back then.

Fast forward to the Lamar Jackson discussions & it always revolved around him just being a runner, he is dumb, he isn't a passer & LSU shut him down in that bowl game. Those were the hot takes as why to not draft Jackson.
