Yep. I think he played about six or seven games for us.

Saints were 4-5 in games Heath Schuler started in 1997 despite him throwing 2 tds and 14 ints.
Kind of crazy.

Hobert? Process of elimination.
Danny was horrible. Collins had a drinking issue and Tolliver wasn’t much.
That Browns hail mary was traumatizing. My dad insisted - don’t watch they’re going to score. Saints opted to call timeout with :13 left rather than run the clock down to :02. Can’t make this up.

Jake Delhomme should have gotten more of a chance as a Saint. Collins was more talented, but both had decent careers.

In Shuler’s first preseason game, the dude looked like Mark Brunell. Accurate with nice zip & spiral and showed some mobility. I was so excited. Then the season started and he played like open arse.
Collins was the first Saints QB that I was actually in awe of his arm strength, relative to other past Saints QBs. Could whip it on a rope. But I learned arm strength ain’t shite if you can’t place the ball in your WRs hands.

As a Saints fan since the late 70’s early 80’s I’ve been through some embarrassing years but having both, and the only, billy joe’s on the roster is up there with the Aaron brooks years.

Heath Shuler actually played pretty well (relatively speaking) until his injury.

I remember when Collins quit football after turning into a great, not just good, QB. I just could not understand it. He had the game speed down and was a shooting star. Could have, in my humble opinion, been a HOF’er.
I believe his excuse was that the game just wasn’t fun for him anymore. Crazy, man! Really liked Collins.
Brooks was not a bad QB, but he was so arrogant. A lot like Hebert, but with wheels. Joe Horn kinda made him look good at times, though.
Delhomme I really think was the best “fit” for us. He loved the Saints, and had a good attitude. Plus, he was a homeboy.

Hobert was the best of a really bad group. At least he showed flashes of competency. His biggest issue was health.
Collins played drunk. Tolliver was very boom or bust (mostly bust). Delhomme only played one game. Wuerffel didn't have NFL tools, and Shuler is the worst starting NFL quarterback I've EVER seen.

You may not be remembering correctly. Kerry Collins played for 17 straight years and was selected to the pro bowl two times. The selections were twelve years apart. The year before he asked to be taken out of the starting line up for Carolina he threw 21 interceptions to 11 touchdowns. So, he wasn't really tearing it up.
He played in 11 games the year he wanted a break. 4 with Carolina, who then cut him, and 7 with the Saints.
His best years were after he asked for a break. 10 years after that happened when he went 12-3 with Tennessee and went to the Pro Bowl.

In the four years Aaron Brooks started all 16 games, he threw for an average of 3700 yards and 25 tds, and that was back before the game changed to more passing. One year he had the lowest interception percentage in the league.
Did it fall apart in 2005? Yes, but the four years before that he was pretty good.
In 2001 he was 4th in passing yards, 9th in 2002, 8th in 2003 and 9th in 2004. In TD passes from 2001-2004 he was 5th, tied for 2nd, tied for 7th and tied for 11th.

Correct answer would be Kerry Collins.
Are you kidding me? I followed the team pretty closely back then, and that guy SUCKED. Compare his stats to Tolliver's in '98 and you'll see.
Tolliver had a bad year in '99. I think his arm was old and tired by then.
I don't ever remember Hobert staying healthy for long, but he looked pretty good when he played.
I guess all in all I'd say:
Delhomme > Tolliver > Hobert > Wuerffel >>>>>> Collins. Eff that guy.

I look back at that guy's career and struggle to figure out which year was his really good one. 2003 I guess? The team went 8-8, FFS.
