Loomis is on a 25-year run that only found success when Sean Payton was coaching his team. New Orleans has gone 28-45 since Payton left town, which makes for a 56-81 record for Loomis when you combine the last five years with the four that preceded him hiring Payton. That certainly puts Benson's points into perspective. Jones quoted one team source who said "It obviously means get (expletive) together."

Nobody needs Moore to figure out this head coaching thing more badly than Loomis. If the Saints lose one or both of their next two games, that long flight back from Paris will end with an uncomfortably lengthy bye week. Loomis has been the top decision maker in New Orleans for a very long time. But if his designs go up in smoke, he wouldn't be the first shot caller to get left on the tarmac and tasked with finding his own way home.

Loomis is a loser.

Payton and Brees dragged his worthless arse to success.

The issues that have plagued this organization since Payton left can be left at the feet of many people (including Loomis).

It was an ORGANIZATIONAL decision to extend the window while Brees was late in his career. It wasn’t ONLY Loomis……Payton bears A LOT of responsibility for the state of this team for the past 5-6 years.

Does Loomis deserve criticism, absofrickinlutely……..BUT people that hate Loomis just to hate Loomis are like petulant children.

That said, if Moore is NOT the guy (and it’s looking like he’s not)…..you can’t let Loomis hire another HC. At that point it’s time for a complete overhaul from the top down. And it seems like that is exactly what Gayle was alluding to.

This week (a long with the Paris game) appear to be the deciding factor in what will happen moving forward. Loomis definitely needs Moore to get it together.

I’m not very confident that he will be able to though……

I think Loomis needs to leave at the end of the season. I don’t think he’s as bad as others do, but his tenure has run its course. Time to bring in fresh blood. And actual fresh blood, not Ireland. He’s another reason we are so talent depleted.

I’d keep Moore for another year. Let the GM get things together and develop, and make a decision after that.

He's a highly accomplished GM but ultimately this organization need a fresh vision.

Jeez, why? You want another year of slow starts and no emotion? We’re probably just wasting time here.

Loomis and Moore both need to be gone yesterday. They would be in any other serious organization.

I think lack of talent is a bigger problem than the coaching. And I think a new GM needs to assess what is needed. If a GM comes in and makes a hire that doesn’t fit, we end up with the wrong guy for three or four years instead of waiting a year and getting it right the first time.

Yeah Cleveland thought Bill was the problem and rubbed everyone the wrong way. Then he went to New England.
You best be very careful with your hires and fires as an organization.

I think 2 things can be true. The lack of talent (depth especially) is hurting Moore, but coaching has been a HUGE problem. The slow starts and lack of a run game is not a talent issue. That’s on Moore……Kubiak had a much better run game here.

All of these soft tissue injuries are an issue, and the plan to prevent them were his peoples brain child………obviously a failure.

If Moore can start to turn some of this around during the remainder of the season, then I agree….maybe he should get another season. I have my doubts about his ability to get this right though (I hope I am wrong)
