My heart tells me no, but my head is skeptical until things get proven. I don't know that the Saints could have picked a better head coach after Sean Payton considering that the franchise is in the best shape it's ever been and Allen is the natural predecessor to keep that culture moving forward.

I think the Saints are still strong and the roster is probably the best we've ever seen it.

No, he was HC before. He was under Payton for awhile. It's up to him to perform with a great coaching staff. He did build a good team in off season. The Oline was horrible. He got new left tackle and new O line coach with 2 All Pro assistant coaches.

Well yeah I mean his FIRST SEASON as headcoach of the saints and he hasn't won a game even though we have not played a game. shite fire him and fire Loomis for a lazy Hire

Not trying to be rude to anyone specifically but sit back and think of where this team is at in regards to players brought in,, how our defense has been the bright unit on the team for the last couple years, whom he coached, once Thomas was out last years our recieving core was a mash unit,, he addressed reciever twice and ee haven't played a game.

Your question sounds asinine doesn't it?

Look, success is never guaranteed, but to say he's in over his head is pretty naive. He knows the job, and this franchise is his home franchise. Probably more than half of the traditional challenges a new coach faces (building a staff, inheriting bad players from a bad team, needing to install new schemes, dealing with moving and family issues, etc.) arent a factor here.

That said, if he fails, the seat might heat up a little quicker - but I dont see that happening.

100%

Being already a coach for years in the org. he doesn't get the "New Guy" pass. He got the job to be able to hit the ground running. Little room or time to fail.

I’m confident he’s ready. He’s inhering a team that is excellent on defense (by his doing), is solid at OL and at the skill and specialist positions. He has a veteran QB with talent who is ultimately going to determine how far this team goes.

If he fails in N.O. like he did in Oakland it’s all on him.

Care to elaborate on your bold claims? Or are you just talking out of your arse?

His defense won several games last year.

He beat Tom Brady in his one head coaching game last year.

He kept most of the coaches for continuity.

I will wait until about midway thru the season before I can give an answer.

Well in that case Todd Bowles just might be as well.

But just about everyone gives them the nod because of a man who fixing to turn 45 at QB.

It's all on him, the staff, and QB. If Winston fails that's on him. If the offense sputters its on him even though Carmichael is running it.

The truth is on paper and record, we have a bad HC and QB record wise. That's facts. Now can they overcome it with a better franchise? Oakland and Tampa are 2 shite teams and both are in a much better position to succeed.

Allen will get 3 years.

We shall see. It is not like his first time as a head coach was with a stable organization. He had a year of Carson Palmer who bolted, then Terelle Pryor, and 1/4 of a season Derrick Carr for his rookie year. There was no stability at QB, their Defense was horrid, and he had to deal with Al Davis. He will have one of if not the top Defenses in the leauge, a continuity of players and staff. It is a very different situation he is walking into. He should be able to win with this team barring significant injuries.

Head coaches in professional sports are only as good as
their front office management. Top organizations don`t
hire bad coaches or draft bad players. The Saints have been
the most consistant winner in the NFL for a while.
At Oakland Allen had just the opposite,a crappy ownership
and front office situation.
Watching DA in interviews and in practice the last few
years I think he has the smarts and demeamor too be a very
good head coach.We shall see.
