I get this very unsettling feeling that were going to waste 3 of our top 5 picks on offense.

Would you rather us pick someone on defense at 11 just to say "we picked defense", or would you rather pick the player that will fit good in our scheme and make us instantly better? Because if you that type that was screaming for Jarvis Jones 4 years ago just because he fit a need, then we will miss again. So why don't we pick that player that will be a homerun based on production and not reach on need. Christian McCaffrey is the player we should all want at 11, because they will be defensive players at 32 (if we do not trade for Butler) and 42 that will help this team now. Why reach? If we do trade for Butler at 32...then we just filled a need. A pass rusher will be there at 42.

It's more or less I am more concerned that we will pick projects again.

We dont have time for that if we want another championship.

We have like zero room for frickin up.

This.

With the first three picks the saints can fill some holes. The draft is unpredictable, but if we waste our picks in people from southwest community college of Puerto Rico I'm going to drive to new orleanz and punch Payton in the face.

The draft is the epitome of optimism for the future of your franchise. If you're going to pre-melt over players we haven't even picked yet, then don't waste your time watching it.

And what if we pick "established"defensive players that supposedly will help us "win now" ( not that likely as a rookie anyway) and they're simply average NFL players. Hopefully we just find guys regardless of position that end up being productive NFL players whether that includes The remainder of the Brees years or after. It's is extremely unlikely that we're gonna hit on all instant impact players that perfectly coincide with the twilight of his career. Just draft good players and help this team now and through the transition.

Just need to get Butler for pick 42 and that sets the bar at a minimum of a "C" grade for the draft.

I felt this way until I realized that there's no way the Saints will waste 11 on Barnett. Feel much better now.

What is funny. I feel the same way about Foster. We draft him at 32 he is a bust. New England drafts him at 42 he will be an all pro. The Saints have thrown a lot of draft picks towards defense with mostly bad results.

This is why I think it's a hilarious argument that Butler is not worth 32. If we give them 32 and he is a reasonably above average starter for us, it is well worth the pick. Our track record at drafting defensive players is awful and our chances of getting a player even 1/4 as good is super low. It's a no brainer.

We've done a better job drafting the last year or two. The key is not to fall in love with a prospect before the draft. You never know who will turn out to be good and who won't. Nobody knew anything about Armstead before the draft. Or Onyamata. But people loved Jarvis Jones, Dion Jordan and Mingo.

All so very true. Sadly it won't stop those from melting down when we don't take Kiper's best available player.

Like the fans don't have reason for skepticism and "melting"

2014 was a terrible draft - cooks then 4 guys who aren't even in the league

2015 we spent the 31st, 44th, 75th and 78th pick on Anthony, Kikaha, Grayson and PJ Williams, none who have really contributed. Our fans will still put a positive spin on those guys, when fact of the matter is there are a lot of guys from 2015 making serious impacts. 4 picks in the top 80! Cmon, this is inexcusable

2016 jury is still out - Rankins was terrible vs the run in a small sample, Vonn Bell terrible in coverage, Ony and Lasco who knows? You cannot crown this draft yet, good or bad. Thomas is a stud, that's all we know

There are a few reasons why we have been a sub .500 team, and the draft is the main one. We have a pathetic track record

Yep you know at 11 Goodell steps up to the mic and says, with the 11 pick in the 2017 draft the New Orleans Saints select....Chris Godwin WR Penn State.

And on a live mic ESPN announcer says...who the Frick is that....

Seen it too many times..
