I mean Alvin Kamara is 5’10 215 lbs....literally the exact same measurements as Ladanian Thomlinson....he did ok.
I completely agree. I think the kid is special and theres no reason to not give him a significant work load.

No. he's been forced to do so in the past b/c our defensive was awful and we'd be down early and often in games. That is no longer the case.

He won’t make that mistake over a period of games but it may very well be necessary in a match here and there.

Definitely think that Kamara should be the feature back, within reason.

Its important to ease him along, so I dont want to see him get a huge Leveon Bell work load (He wont anyway). In those first 4 games tho, Id like to see him in 60% of the snaps. Maybe Boston Scott grabs 25-30% or so, and sprinkle in some Edmunds. Obviously, we aren't even in training camp yet, but I could see that happening.

For reference, Kamara played 45% of the offensive snaps last year, while Ingram played 55% - which turns out to be 100 more snaps.

Personally, once Ingram returns, Id like to see the roles switched with Kamara playing 55% and Ingram playing 45%.

Shannon Sharpe said it best, "The more touches he gets, the more electric he becomes". Think of what Kamara can do with 100 more snaps on the field. 100 more last year in the same role is on pace for
17 Tds
97 Catches 970 yards
146 carries 875 yards
Around 243 touches

Even increasing his work load that much ranks him about 13th in the league in touches. Thats a modest, steady increase for his second year. Maybe in 2 years, he gets near 70% like the Melvin Gordons, Lesean McCoys, Ezekial Elliots of the league and he becomes the first 1000 and 1000 back in 20 years.

I know last year was suuupperrr efficient for Kamara, and I doubt he maintains that pace over the course of, say, the next 3 years. But even if he is close to that efficiency (Ypc/ypr/yards after contact), he has to play more. Saints would be doing a disservice by not increasing his role.

I believe Kamara will step up as an every down back and Boston Scott will step up as the scat back check down option/screen back, allowing Kamara to focus more on running between the tackles and giving him a break here and there. Terrence West is a serviceable change of pace primary back. We will run with success, especially since teams will be likely be anticipating us being less aggressive with the run BC we lost Ingram. If I were CSP, I'd make em pay for it by being even more aggressive in the run

I see Kamara getting 11-15 carries a game with West getting 5-10 depending on his effectiveness. So now, I doubt he abandons it. But you might see us throw a little more until Week 5, especially with Cam Meredith and Watson as added weapons in the pass game.

Once Week 5 hits I expect both Kamara and Ingram to get at least 10 carries a piece if not more. Instead of 50-50 balance like we had last season I can see a 60-40 lean to pass until Ingram returns.

I know you can't see it but I'm dabbing one tear from my eye with a pair of your mother's panties.

ETA may you could see it. That is if you ever come out of the basement. Better hurry up though. She's fixing to make some Hot Pockets.
