Anybody else still having a hard time getting excited?

I’m following along with free agency and everything, and I like the moves we’ve made, but damn, I feel like I’m just going through the motions.
Am I alone here? I actually kind of hope I am.

I'm still just waiting on Jared Cook.

A tight end and receiver would make me feel much better. Some o line and safety depth wouldn’t hurt either.
Love what we’ve done so far.

We’ve made all of the moves that were needed (Ingram had to have WAY overestimated his value on the market, and lost options after we passed). Get Cook and a cheap WR that can contribute instantly, then we have an incredibly successful FA.
Get more youthful depth, and this team is set up for Brees’ final run as well as the era beyond him.

To be honest, the no call took away a lot of my passion for the sport but not for the Saints. I suspect once the season starts I'll be back to normal, but like you said I don't really care right now and I feel like nothing can happen to make me look forward to going through next season as of now

Speaking of, what's the word on his visit

It was odd, I didn’t even have a reaction. I had a bad feeling even after the coin toss in OT we were gonna lose. After the game I said frick it and didn’t watch football news and missed all but last 1.5 minutes of the SB. I was at my in laws and got there at that time of the game.
ETA: I can’t remember if I even posted on here on game night afterwards. If I did it was one or 2 post and then I didn’t even click on ST till maybe a few weeks ago, iirc. I know I stayed away from football. Man we’ve had some brutal playoff losses over the years.

Nah fam, we still big dick swinging next year.

I wish the season were starting tomorrow.

I’m actually more excited to see what the future holds than about the upcoming season( if we can maintain being an upper tier franchise). I think it’s going to be REALLY hard to replicate the success of the past two regular seasons this year. We really need Davenport to make a jump and our O line to fricking stay healthy. Id also be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Drew falling off at some point relatively soon. Not his decision making, ability to lead, but just the battle with Father Time.

Hey, this has been a pretty good free agency run considering the lack of funds.

Oh it’s just this. Sorry, should have clarified.
The way last year ended just drained me of what little faith I had remaining in the product. The subsequent hangover just has me struggling for excitement about next year. Nothing has moved the meter yet.

We are in the twilight of Drew’s career. It’s tough to think about what Saints Football will look like once he hangs up cape and his licking hands tradition.

The roster is as talented as any. If they do have a lackluster season no doubt it’ll be because of the way they lost the NFC title game. That is a big concern for me. I didn’t think they’d bounce back from the Min Miracle like they did, so who knows. They took one of the most devastating ways to lose in league history and grabbed the 1 seed the following season. There is certainly mental toughness with this squad. But damn will it be hard to get past what happened. I’m pissed just thinking about it.

Yeah I think we’re a damn good roster. That’s just a hell of an ask to bounce back from two years in a row. Sean should go talk to Marv Levy about how to bounce back from tremendous disappointment multiple times.

This is exactly how I feel.

This is where I'm at as well. I love the Saints but I still don't want to watch the NFL or give them anything. It's tough because I know I'm going to want to watch the Saints and being away from NOLA I would usually get Redzone but frick that, I won't spend a penny more on the NFL. And yeah this FA and what will likely be a boring draft for NO has me uninspired.

Downvotes [ENGAGE] but I think we failed this offseason.
Latavius has quietly run hard the past couple seasons and I don't mind the signing, but we'll miss Ingram while RB contracts this FA gave the chance to keep him for a steal. Had hoped we could sign Ingram and snag DT 2nd round in a defensive draft, which is seemingly less and less likely with our FA moves. Maybe Davenport and Davis help, but Rankins was unreal in 2018.
Peat's fully guaranteed $9.625mil option hurts. Seems obvious we were trying to unload him and got caught with our pants down when it didn't pan out. Left side hinges on Armstead's health which concerns me.
Silver lining: Latavius as mentioned. Held Teddy though we'll have to revisit long-term contract next offseason with Drew's gigantic cap hit in the way. Hopeful that Easton or some other guard pans out via FA or we address early in the draft. Happy Lutz is locked in, not wild about paying top-5 money for kicker.
I'll be waiting for the draft wrench we throw by burning our 2nd on offensive skill position. Maybe we trade back for future draft capital, yet not much to gain there with this year's picks I'm afraid. We're so close, yet I'm afraid we'll take a step back based on our moves thus far. Little worried about getting MT help as it seems we're of the risky hope that someone from our mediocre crop (Meredith, Smith, Kirkwood, Dez, Ginn, Arnold) will step up. Slot WR contracts worked against us this offseason which made missing out on Humphries understandable, but he would've been nice to have.
Torn on Cook. Would be an asset but don't love the price tag. Delanie might be a decent alternative at a discount at his age and coming off injury.
TL;DR: Ingram/Rankins glaring losses. Peat a liability.
