Considering the age of the Superdome and the fact that many teams around the league are getting state of the art stadiums, do you believe that the state of La/Nola will approve a new stadium venture for the Saints in the near future? There is no doubt the city/Superdome continues to be a draw for many sporting events outside of professional football. At what point do you see that start to fade and the draw of the Superdome gets old? Isn’t Mercedes ending it’s partnership as soon as the contract is up?

The draw of the superdome never gets old because of the location. There is also very little appetite for local government to pay for stadiums. Expect more and more renovations.

Louisiana has no business building one of these new stadiums anytime soon.

Exactly, I do not want another. In a perfect world you could have a Lot next the Dome like Atlanta did but you do not and The Dome right downtown walking Distance to everything. You can not beat that. Dome Location is worth more than anything they can build. Unless they knock it down and build it back in the same spot.

The Superdome is currently being renovated. You got to think it has 10-15 years left

Assuming the guts of the stadium are ok they will just keep renovating it. I don’t see the state putting up the money necessary for a new stadium.

I don’t see it. The done structurally is in great my shape and it’s still a premium draw for big events because it’s located in a perfect spot. Any new stadium would have to be built where the dome stands. I think it has another 20 years.

I didn’t realize the Superdome is 46 years old. It opened in 1975. For Comparison, the Georgia Dome opened in 1995 and was torn down and replaced in 2017. Only 26 years in existence and the Georgia Dome was demolished for the Mercedes-Benz stadium built right next to it. At the time, I thought the Georgia Dome wasn’t that old, why would they be building a new one.

They are literally in the process of another massive renovation to the Superdome. The state and the Saints also agreed to a lease extension through like 2035 or something like that. Eventually there will have to be a new stadium but it’s not going to be anytime in the near future.

One was in the works right before Katrina and was being planned to be on the Riverfront where Mardi Gras World is, but that location is probably out of consideration for any new stadium.

As others have said, the Dome is great all because of the location.

If the City and State were to ever move forward with a new stadium, it would likely be out in New Orleans East, which would be awful

I’m not sure where else you would want to build a stadium. If you really wanted to, the Saints could play at LSU again for a year or two like the Vikings did at MU. I think the Superdome is iconic regardless and it has held up well

Gayle Benson doesn't want or need a new stadium. The Saints have a great lease agreement with the state. The Saints get all concessions and naming rights. The Saints have no stadium debt, which adds to the value of the team for Gayle.

Jerry Jones has a huge stadium debt with the Cowboys. $1 billion in debt at one point.

I'm so glad this didn't happen - I love the dome, especially in the beginning of the season when it's 95 degrees and 100% humidity.

If the need a new stadium, it needs to be built where the Superdome stands today. Saints would have to play at LSU while new stadium is built

Define “state of the art”

The Dome is great and it’s location is perfect, which is why it’s a draw for other events.

Well if they do “need” a new stadium then the owners can pay for it. Taxpayers shouldn’t have to put 1 penny on a venue to make rich people richer.
