It really is. How do the financials work in that situation? Does the team still owe him money for signing him?

Seems to me if so the league should be on the hook for dragging their feet

It is bullshite. But it is reality. He will be placed on the exempt list as soon as he signs. People freaking out one way or another are just too emotional.

But it is a win/win by the Saints because per PFT

quote:

Saints have nothing to lose if they sign Antonio Brown; even if he's placed on paid leave, the teams don't pay the players during the playoffs

So the Saints wouldn’t have to pay him anyway.

This. I’m all for signing talent. But there are three guys I wouldn’t touch and that’s, AB, Colin Kapernick and JFF. Not worth it for any of them. It’s like asking Jim Irsay to buy the team and let Dan Snyder manage it for you.

It’s almost certainly a move to keep him from other teams and a chance to see if he can play here next year. At this point, you trust Payton or you don’t.

He didn’t do shite in New England. Pats cut him because of the exempt list shite. BB had him toeing the line. Even if he’s an unstable frick, he can still play. But it’s nothing to worry about until next year

Anyways this is all moot. Schefter just said he can’t play until the league finishes its investigation which it has not.

And they won’t until after the post season

And the dude said this is the NFL's way of colluding is spot on, as an investigation sure as shite doesn't take THAT long

All of this.

For all we know this is just Sean Payton playing 4-D chess with Rodger Goodell.

If you're Sean Payton, and you're worried that a playoff competitor is going to pick up Antonio Brown and beat your arse with him, what better way to make sure he doesn't end up playing in the league this year? Make Rodger Goodell think that you're interested in him and then Rodger slowplays the investigation until after the season so the Saints don't end up with him and wreck shop.

The landscape of the playoffs remains unchanged with Antonio Brown sitting in his living room and the Saints hoist to Trophy anyway.

Checkmate Goodell.

Another thing, if we sign AB, we have to cut someone.

if we cut someone, then probably expect the NFL to put him on exempt list thus cannot play...

then we are risking losing someone we just cut right?

Yes, that will go swimmingly.

LINK

quote:

Antonio Brown has filed a $40 million grievance against the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday.

According to Rapoport, the NFL Players Association filed the grievance on behalf of Brown, who was let go after short stints with both teams. It allegedly asks for over $40 million in "unpaid salary, fines and voided guarantees."

Daily News

quote:

Antonio Brown doesn’t know when to stop.
Two days after the ex-Patriot/Raider/Steeler was booted from New England, the wide receiver posted a series of tweets calling out everyone from Patriots owner Robert Kraft to Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.

quote:

quote:

After, he looked up and found an old CBS News article on former NFL tight end, current co-host of Fox’s Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe. The article was about rape allegations Sharpe was under investigation for in 2010, which caused Sharpe to step away from his former gig as an NFL analyst with CBS. “Shannon Sharp the funny guy on tv still after this,” Brown tweeted along with a screenshot of that article.

quote:

He also went after Roethlisberger and tweeted a screenshot of another CBS News article detailing rape allegations he faced, also in 2010. “4 games for Big Ben crazy world I’m done with it,” Brown tweeted along with the article.

Now this is actually interesting and would be genius on Payton’s part. Goodell hates all parties so AB would undoubtedly be suspended if he joined the Saints - likely not the Pats, SF, etc. Go figure.

So keep him from them. There’s the off chance he’s actually allowed to play for the Saints and help. Or otherwise he can’t play for others either. Win win

what does any of that have to do with teams not being the one to pay players during the playoffs?

Don’t be a dumbass

The Saints wouldn’t have to pay him because the NFL would and it would force the NFL’s hand because they wouldn’t want to be paying this guy long term for not doing shite

May want to rethink that hoss.

He won’t get paid or get paid late or the check won’t be made out to “Mr. Big Chest” and he’ll go crazy and post crazy thing then some loony from the FQ will come out about some story about she and AB and he will lose it and be suspended again and we all end up with crazy all over us. Because that’s how crazy work.

Also an interesting point. There are a lot of variables, good and bad, involved with signing him. In Madden none of that matters because he has a 98 score, but in real life there are many nuances that must be parsed through
