5 wins? Do we really think the team is no better this season?

Serious question, not sunshine pumping. Saints won 5 last season with horrible injury luck and horrible coaching. We have the 2nd easiest schedule in the NFL this year. We have new coaches. I'd like to think the injury luck will balance out a bit. Why are all the projections I see for 5 wins or less? Did the team get worse?

Yes, we did. We got older with already the oldest team in the league, without adding much talent or depth.

Do we really expect a 26 Yr old who's never played a down of NFL football to be our white knight this year, with a defense who has regressed in pretty much every stat over the last 5 years? Olave is injury prone and already had a few concussions. Kamara isn't the same player he was even just 3 years ago, and Miller cant stay on the field more than 30 mins at a time it seems. Our TE room is in shambles. Our OL might be a strength this year, but that may be out one shining star.

Did I miss anything?

The only reason Saints can even hope (Pray) to approach 5 wins is because 6 of the 17 games are against…..

-Falcons
-Panthers
-Bucs

Otherwise we are talking 2-3 wins out of 17.
Which they still may reach.

There is so much that is new and unknown. We upgraded at coach, I believe. I am not sure what else we upgraded, maybe Oline, maybe.

All that being said, I am looking forward to seeing what we look like in an actual game.

And they had one of the easier schedules the past 2 years. The injury issue has been a plague to the team for years. There is a lot of unknown with Moore, the QB, new defense… I’d like to think they can win more than 5, but I wouldn’t put money on it and with all of the unknowns…saying 5 is being optimistic

We’ll get at least 7. May win only 1-2 in the first couple months but will put it together and just miss the playoffs… yet again

I could see us winning six or seven games. NYG and NYJ won’t be great. We will spoil a playoff bid for the falcons at the end of the year. We will split the series with the Panthers. We might surprise the Cardinals or 49ers coming out the gate. I don’t think the dolphins are very good.

Arizona Cardinals W
San Francisco 49ers L
@ Seattle Seahawks L
@ Buffalo Bills L
New York Giants W

Tampa Bay Buccaneers L
@ Los Angeles Rams L
@ Carolina Panthers W
Bye
Atlanta Falcons L
@ Miami Dolphins W

New York Jets W
@ Tennessee Titans W

That being said, I could see us having injuries and only winning three or four games too.

I’m just excited to have a new coach and start trying to infuse the team with talent.

New defensive coordinator and scheme, new players like Reid and Godchaux. Lattimore wasn't a factor last year and Adebo was hurt early so DBs are a wash at worst compared to 2024. Older Demario and Honey Badger, sure, but that doesn't mean they fall off a cliff from last year. DL the same or better.

Olave is injury prone and already had a few concussions.
So? That happened last year. If we get anything from Olave this season it's a step up.

Kamara isn't the same player he was even just 3 years ago, and Miller cant stay on the field more than 30 mins at a time it seems.
Also same as last year, except now we at least have Devin Neal as well.

Same healthy starter this year. Moreau coming off an injury does not make this unit appreciably different than last year.

Our OL might be a strength this year
This is called "burying the lede", and a really good OL makes a huge difference.

This part I can't argue. If Shough plays like Rattler did last year, we're fricked. Is that what you're expecting?

Again, I'm not trying to be delusional, I wouldn't be surprised at a 5 win season, I just don't agree the perception that the players on the team now are worse than the players we put on the field last year (unless Derek Carr was carrying us), and our coaches should be better than DA.

That’s It….

You see I do believe that you (Satan) exists.
That’s Satans biggest weapon…
That people don’t believe Satan exists….

Unfortunately, the Saints Team also exists. :p

We are favored to win 1 game but I think we get to 2 or 3.

No Saints starter at QB has won a game except Carr last 2 years.

It’s likely Shough’s job. Expected typical rookie throwing pains with 10-12 TDs and 20 plus picks.

Considering our best defensive players are a year slower and worse, the 5.5 O/U is reasonable.

Nobody wanted Moore as HC and Staley has been fired as HC.

Oschner still sucks and this draft looks mediocre again.

There’s a reason bags are the hot topic with multiple threads on this board in May; they’ll be in demand soon.
