The problem is that WR has 2 holes to fill. If we only had one there, then I would agree with you. Ultimately it all depends how the 2nd round plays out, but I think we still have need at that position. You say OLB is a need, but right now we have 2 starters there just as we do at WR. Center is an obvious need, so I think Martin is high on our list right now.

The point is that we can't just draft for this year. That's a formula for failing teams that want to continue to fail. We do have other needs, but WR is still one of them. After this year we may be down to Stills and Cooks, and I am not comfortable with that. I'm only stating if Matthews is there that we should take him. I am not advocating taking a WR for the sake of the position. I believe Matthews will be a stud in the league, so I think he would be an unbelievable value pick where we are in the 2nd.

You think they're happy with the RBs? No chance at the two I mentioned?

They happy with them yes. May get one in 4-5 but can't see a 2nd on one

Ideally, we take a C or CB in the 2nd round. If Martin or Richburg is available, I think they're easy picks. If not, then one of the big corners should still be up there. If no CB or C worth taking is available, my guess is OLB.

My prediction for tomorrow is CB though.

ive gone to bat for Cadet, and everyone has killed me

I thought there was an outside shot at one of these smaller RBs to replace Sproles, but I think with the pick of Cooks, that kind of goes out the window. I can see him lining next to Brees out the shot gun in some formations, and just catching a ton of short passes in general. So maybe they transition from the swing passes Sproles caught to more bubble screen type places with Cooks, or even swing some passes to him out the backfield.

I think they'd take an big, every down type back before a 3rd down type back.

I think offensive skill positions are off of the table for this year. The team likes Cadet, and Cooks is a Swiss Army knife. He's great in the slot, outside, from the backfield, and returning kicks.

No Dri Archer, De'Anthony Thomas, or Ka'Deem Carey this year.

CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
LB Jeremiah Attaochu
T Cyrus Kouandjio
TE Jace Amaro (Would be fun to watch)
LB Chris Borland

I wouldn't trade up again, keep the rest of our picks. But if Matthews is there I would sure as hell take him.

Honestly in a deep draft I say they go BPA between corner, LB and perhaps a highly rated center/guard

unless one really falls, i totally agree. If we can clean up in these mid rounds, and one of the guys is there late, they could nab one.

Not to mention we have a huge logjam at RB(numbers-wise)

Ingram
Robinson
Cadet
Pierre

would be hard to carry 5 RB each week, much less 4.

Yup. They'll have their customary UDFA tryout and bring a guy into camp who might get a shot, but outside of that there's no need to use a pick on a guy who won't add much.

I'm with you on Cadet. I think he will be very good. I still can see us taking an Archer type in 4th-5th. Cooks is a WR. If Cadet isn't the guy (there is no certainty), then we will still need a speed RB on this team. Plus return ability is critical. I'm not sure cooks will be used in return game.

Pierre could get cut as far as talent goes. But what's his cap hit?

I don't think there is any way that Pierre gets cut.

Zero chance of that. Not sure why it's being discussed. We will carry 4 HBs and if one gets cut it will be Cadet, especially now that we have Cooks.

PT is literally our only pass blocking back and Payton values that highly.

Marcus Martin
Stanley Jean-Baptiste (great talent and sounds like a saints player)
Pierre Desir
Kyle Van Noy

if we get any of those four I'd be extremely pleased.

A lot of mocks had him going late in the first round. Obviously getting a lot of Seattle talk because of his size. They have the eighth pick in the second round. If I were them I'd go WR, though.

i'd want Martin more than Van Noy.

still surprised we went offense over defense after the last six 1st round picks went to the defense.

obviously the run at LB was surprising.

the Steelers pick was interesting, it really did help set our pick in motion I think.

maybe Van Noy won't last long. I mean there has already been a run at LB's that was a little unexpected.. at least at the number they were picked.
