I know where you got it from.
Every player on those sites has weaknesses listed.
That doesn't mean they are all projects. That's my point.
Every player has a weakness. Being over-dramtic, as usual

i'd hope our 2nd round pick would be a likely starter, esp when we could have traded up to get mike jenkins
i would be fully confident that jenkins would be starting next year
the cowboys moved up from 28 and only gave up a 5 and a 7. 2, 5s would have likely been enough. if not that, then a 5 this year and a 3 next year would have definitely been enough

It's a pretty big thing just to assume that could have gotten it done.

i'm going by the draft value chart
i know a new one came out, but according to the old one they would have gotten more value with a 5/3 than 5/7, according to the chart

Jenkins was a 1st round pick. Yes, had we traded up into the 1st round, i would hope we would have gotten a starter.
but we didnt.
We took a CB at pick 40, who isnt considered an immediate starter.
How many 2nd round CB's started in the NFL last year or years past the minute they were drafted when the team already had 2 starting CBs? That's pretty impossible if you ask me.
trading up 3 picks is easier than trading up 15 picks.
Like in years past, you always have these crazy speculations about what we should have done..we should have gotten DBrick and Mangold and AJ Hawk 2 years ago blah blah blah...come on dude, be realistic some times. YOu always dont have to go against the grain. Its not healthy.
seriously, go back and search how many times you say "they should have done....."..
its so easy to say shite like that. These GM's know what they are doing and what best fits their team. And they know what trades are best for them.

and i don't hate the pick or anything, i just don't know if it was a good pick. there's a big difference

you sure seem like it dude.
take off your fantasy "trade up/trade down" glasses and review it for what it is. not what we should have done or could have done or how we passed on Justin King or how we could have traded back and got Justin King.
it is what it is. We stayed at 40 and picked Porter.
im going to bed though. 9am comes early. later jake

King has way too much bust potential for my liking. He needs to be more consistent.
And Jenkins, while I like him as a player, has enough character concerns that the Saints probably wouldn't touch him.

SFP, the draft guru, has whiffed on quite a few the past couple of seasons.
Matt Ryan and Chad Henne come to mind foremost.
But this is good stuff as well.

I think the jury is still out on Porter. Dude needs to stay on the field.

dude is a premiere corner though. not his fault his safety took him out.

yeah but we have gotten our money's worth when he is on the field. he's been excellent these past 9 games and he will be back later on in the season.
i'd like to see if these threads go back to when we drafted roman harper in the 2nd round a few years back. i wasn't a member of this site. this is kind of fun to read old threads.

Most of the fun threads on Harper will be in the Shockey trade rumor threads, as Harper was a player the Giants really wanted as a throw-in on the trade.
I seem to recall a bunch of people pissing and moaning that we didn't trade him in order to grab Shockey, as Harper appeared to be nothing special at that point.
