Looks like Payton don't give a frick out the o-line. Just got another LB.

Might need a QB next round in case Brees gets killed this season...

Sunseri and Powell? Solid picks.

OH FFS. Because linebacker and DB hadn't been addressed at all in the draft.

I like the pick of Powell. This draft is thinning out and I think this was one of the best players available when healthy.

Powell never lived up to the hype at Florida. Always stayed hurt, very similar pick to Fortt

I'd like the sunseri pick explained, I don't get the thinking there at all.

Not a position of need at all and not a particularly good player

Looks like another athlete who isn't really a football player IMO

quote:

Strengths
Looks the part -- well-proportioned, athletic, muscular build. Natural bender. Terrific agility. Can stunt and loop. Closes fast. Flashes strong hands and power potential. Loose hips to zone drop. Was deployed as a stand-up linebacker and hand-in-the-dirt rush end. Has untapped potential.

Weaknesses
Inconsistent get-off. Average eyes and instincts -- has to see it before he triggers. Shoddy edge setter. Plays short-armed, gets locked up and allows linemen to capture his outside shoulder. Aimless, unrefined pass rusher. Intensity and urgency leave something to be desired. Has coasted on natural talent. Had his tires pumped since high school -- entitlement was an issue as a young player and his personality could rub some people the wrong way. Injury history.

Draft Projection
Rounds 3-4

Bottom Line
Powell is a physically gifted, inconsistent, college Buck 'backer with crude strength and athleticism. Has developmental value as a stand-up rush linebacker, but must dedicate himself to the craft and realize he's no longer the big man on campus.

Dude has a lot of athletic ability. I think Ryan can work with him.

Only place I see Sunseri is playing special teams early. 3 people would have to get hurt in order for him to see the field.

I'm guessing Sunseri will take over what IAQ was two years ago. Back up safety and special teams player.

I don't remember seeing IAQ at all last year. And I'm good with the Safety depth considering all the injuries we had in the secondary last year.

I still don't understand the Sunseri pick when Richardson is right there

Looks like it's Lelito or Goodwin. Was hoping we would address center in the draft but I guess Payton feels the guards will compensate.

So we are now targeting injury prone guys in the late round instead of best available?
