So which picks do we actually have this year, assuming that we dont have to give up a 1st for Shockey. If I remember correctly we have 1,4,7. Gave up 2nd and 5th for Shockey, 3rd for Vilma (assuming he keeps performing the way he is), and 6th for the Arrington pick last year.

If thats the case, its not even worth hoping for a high draft pick. And even worse, we're making the Giants look like geniuses on that trade.

As far as I know, Mickey Loomis doesn't have a crystal ball and can't tell the future, especially pseudo sports hernia injuries.

If he did, I'm sure he wouldn't have drafted Sedrick Ellis or Tracey Porter, either.

Dude, the whole country knew about Shockey's inability to stay healthy, so Loomis didn't really need a crystal ball... just a 1/4 brain and some common sense would have preformed the same bit of scrying. Let's not forget the history of drops and whining that was part of his package. While we haven't seen the whining yet, the drops have been there.

This was a dumb trade and all of Giants nation is laughing at our short-sightedness now.

why, Ellis will only be out another week or two, he is worth it, Porter, a 2nd round pick could be a great CB one day, he's worth the injury even as a 2nd round pick

According to the original poster's logic, Mickey Loomis should know who will get injured and thusly not acquire them.

RE: Shockey.

Though I think that second and fifths are a bit much for Shockey, you have to understand he wasn't going to be free. Would you rather have given up Roman Harper and a second and be stuck with Bullocks in the backfield with Kaesviharn?

Secondly, assuming there isn't much in the tight end department via the draft and 2009 free agent pool, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Shockey trade will eventually work out.

So, should we try and trade that first rounder and rack up a 2nd and 6th?

This is the stupidest post of the day. He's played every game since he was in the league until a broken bone. One injury IN THE NFL makes a guy injury prone now???

NO

We need an immediate impact player at FS or RT.

I wouldnt want to pick them. Even if they were best player available.

We wont need any WRs next year. Colston, Arrington, Meachem, Henderson, Moore, Copper, maybe Patten. Plus Shockey.

Folks are crazy to dismiss Shockey. He will return in a big way.

As far as a dumb trade...I thought he was fitting in EXTREMELY well in the last game he played. He finally found a rhythm with Brees and looked good. I think when he comes back he will pick up where he left off. And no ones laughing at us...

just wait till shockey starts breaking arm tackles and takes some of thise 8 yds passes for 35 yds...just wait till he takes a seam route for td. he will be invaluable...i'm just concerned our offensive prowess will give payton cover not to improve the OL and running game....

brandon spikes lb
cushing lb
