Are you really comparing Rattler to one of the all time great QBs? If that’s your measure then you’ll likely never be satisfied.

Rattler never has and never will do anything to elevate a team to a win

If his receivers catch the balls or not fumble them then he did just that

quote:

When your QB needs perfection around him to be slightly better than "we didn't lose because of him," that QB needs to be changed.

Who is saying perfection around him? There’s a huge gap between competent around him to perfection. But hey, you keep on creating those highest bars while the rest of us more reasonable folk play in the realm of reality

Better is a very relative term.

I'm happy for you that you truly believe we have found the guy. Good for you.

Rattler's nickname should be "almost good enough."

I'm just not gonna shite on people's happiness for the next few weeks. They are truly happy that they found the guy. That's great.

I will just say I hope they are correct

Saw a stat that 4 of the 6 incompletions were to Olave. I did not get to watch the entire game yesterday but did see the one where the defender pulled his left arm back and he missed the TD (Olave may have short armed that anyway, but the defender did not help), and another one where a defender punched it out as he was bringing a high ball down. What happened with the other 2 incompletions? Also drops/good defense?

Looks like Shaheed had the other 2 incompletions, what happened with these?

Also, while Rattler did have 20 completions, did he have the same tendency to have the ball in the wrong spot (behind, too high, too low), which would limit any opportunities to gain YAC. The little that I saw it looked like he was primarily on time and had the ball in good spots, but I did see that he did have a few high passes (Olave one mentioned above)

every starting QB in the league every game, every week misses or is not right on target every throw. some of that gets masked by elite skill players on the receiving end. something we are lacking.

Small incremental improvements are huge for young QBs considering most go the other way, statistically

You’re going to have to do better than this Bunchie. You haven’t been the same since Shiugh didn’t take over after 4 games since you talked about it happening ad nauseam. It ok your prophecy wasn’t fulfilled. They’re doing with rattler what you ultimately want your organization to do. Stop acting like a child

I really don’t understand the Rattler support lol. Like sure, he’s not abysmal, but clearly his body of work does not show him to be an above average NFL starter. We need to see if Shough is that guy when we end up with a top 3 pick. I’m ok with giving each of them half the season but Shough needs to see the field. There is 0 reason for Rattler to start 17 games.

I am happy that you guys believe the Saints have found their QB. That is a good feeling to have.

Are you referring to yourself with this nonsense? Its ok for people to have a different opinion than you. Rattler has done nothing but validate my opinion of him. He is a fine high end backup, low end starter. That isn't good enough for me, it is for you.

You believe he will keep getting better and become a top 10 QB. I hope you are right.

I'm pretty neutral on Rattler.

I do think he's gotten better. There's really no question about that.

But I also trust the coaches and if they thought that Shough was ready. They would have put him in by now.

Or if they had just flat out seen enough of Rattler and no longer thought. He gave them the best chance to win. Then we definitely would have seen Shough by now.

Rattler probably does give them the best chance to win right now. He does not make mistakes and is competent. He makes plays with his feet and doesn't panic a lot.

Most young guys make huge mistakes, need time to develop competence and will panic at times. They cost you games often early on

The hard part is that we have to keep reminding ourselves that we knew this wasn't going to be easy from a sense that we weren't going to win a lot of games this year

The last time I checked I think the projected win total was five, but that was before the season started.

Rattler has missed on some throws. No doubt about that and that's frustrating cuz it hadn't just been a game or two where it's happened.

But I go back to even a few years ago when Carr first got here and we weren't a very good RedZone offense then either.

This is the third year in a row where a different coach has called the plays for this team and yet we still find ourselves having struggles in the Red zone

So yeah I would put that some on coaching but we've talked about it at nauseam. We don't really have a lot of playmmakers

Alvin once was one of the best playmakers in the league but he's just older now

And the receivers do have some talent in that room but none of them are game breakers

wrong. this is a fine knee jerk reaction for you to make. but a first time head coach trying to build a culture and locker room? winning is a team effort. so is losing. rattler has played well enough to win these close games but colectively through a handful of mistakes and bad play we cannot finish. yes, he is part of that as i said collectively the team has not finished. for the level of talent we have (or don't) i am pleasantly surprised how well we do play to be in these ball games no matter the opponent. the offensive scheme is great. the execution is spotty. we move up and down the field on anyone. we just sputter in the redzone on miscues and penalties. there is no reason to go to shough just because we are 1-whatever. rattler is improving week to week. the team plays hard behind him. he has a good command of the offense and can move the sticks with his legs when needed (he makes good decisions/reads there). we need to get better at the skill positions, limit the drops, and improve in the red zone. we need a big, strong handed receiver that can contest. we also need a better pass rush and improved run blocking. some of these things unfortunately will not happen until we can acquire better talent over the next season or 2.

We are 1-5 dude. “Played well enough to win” my arse. You win or lose. 1-11 as a starter speaks for itself.

Yea I remember the giants had Warner I think and made the change to that rookie quarterback on the bench around game 10. I think Eli lost every game the rest of the season. Not really the same though.
