I just found it odd that you remembered reasonable takes from 5 months ago that turned out to be incredibly wrong and ignored all the great things I said about him.

I edited out me going about defending myself because Its just not worth it. It came across as defensive and frankly, sad. I’m more honored that you’re so obsessed with me that you remembered mildly shitty posts from 5 months ago. I’ve got way shittier posts than that but for you to remember is really sweet.

Damn I must be more of a genius than I thought.

You of all people should definitely not throw stones in glass houses.

Have a great morning.

The fact that Zion decided he didn’t give a shite that Rudy Gobert was guarding him in the post, and still scored with ease on him several times, then did the same to Ed Davis, should scare everyone not a pelican.

His defense hasn’t been good at all, but I think he’s out there hunting for steals to make a highlight more than anything. He’ll learn. I’m not worried about that. Found it interesting they put him at the 5 for a few plays against Gobert.

It takes most rookies awhile to get good on Defense. Everyone thought AD would be spectacular on D and struggle on O and it was pretty much the opposite. Honestly, I still don’t think AD is that good defensively outside of blocks.

Zion’s soft touch around the rim is fairly incredible. To be fair, it’s preseason, and he may hit a wall and struggle at some point this year. But man, it is truly something to watch.

This is by far the hottest take you have in this thread.

Zion is lost on d, like rookies will be. Honestly, most of the team is as well. It will take time for the team to figure it out w/ new scheme + new pieces.

And remember, still a lot of young guys seeing minutes. Even the Laker guys are still young and not coming from a stable environment that develops good habits. Potential is there for this team on defense, but it will take some time, I think

Yeah, his defense has been really bad, but it's a lack of knowledge, not a lack of ability. He has to be in the right place at the right time. He'll learn.

It’s worded poorly. I meant relative to his defensive hype coming out of college.

He’s a good help defender but I’ve always felt he wasn’t that good of a man on man defender relative to his reputation . He’s pretty soft. Gets spectacular blocks but he really lacks effort and he’s very soft sometimes. He gets beat a lot.
He’s no Gobert, or even Draymond, for instance.

AD is an absolutely spectacular offensive player though and most didn’t expect that. I’m not trying to be the fan that just downplays him once he’s gone. He’s a great player. But I’ve always felt that way about him defensively.

And yeah Zion isn’t the only one playing poorly on D. He’s a rookie though so being lost is expected. He will get it eventually. His basketball IQ is just too high.

There are too many good defenders for them to be bad on D all year.

I think you're letting his poor effort last season hold too much sway. And he should absolutely be punished for basically wasting a season of his prime on nonsense.

Same time, his work in 17/18 was spectacular. DPOY level. When he's trying, he's just devastating. Much of the talk here that year was that he was too good offensively and that cost him focus/effort on defense.

I agree that he's no Draymond. Draymond is a defensive savant. But Draymond also has had the habit of taking the last few regular seasons off

Definitely agree on Zion getting it sooner rather than later. His motor is never in doubt and he's got a high BBIQ.

We just need to let them breathe some. There will be ups and downs this year.

The roster turnover alone ensures that it’ll take time. Team Defense, a large part of its success is due to familiarity and instinct as to what the other players will do

We have a lot of good individual defenders and high IQ players. It’ll come together, it’s just going to take some time.

And the pace we play at won’t help a lot on that end.

you have no self awareness or accountability bunchie. You should check yourself. Less emotion and reactiveness would be a start.. More reflection. You're not a stupid person, but you just cant help yourself

I like being emotional on here during games. I’m a relatively emotionless person. It’s a good release.

You do you, I’ll do me.

Self reflection is also a two way street. Have a great day Lester. Enjoy the cool temperatures.

How does he lack accountability? He acknowledged that the takes mentioned were bad takes. I've had some dumb takes here too. I'm not trying to takes sides in a fight, because I really dislike stupid threads of people calling each other stuff, and I don't want this to resemble the Rant or the Poli board.

Thoughts? He’s very talented, and he’s agile
and quick for his size. His defense will be fine. He positions himself well.
