You saw the Giants win the superbowl with a 9-7 and a 10-6 record. Packers and Ravens won it at 10-6. other teams have made it there at 9-7 and 10-6.
There's been 13 different Super bowl champs in the last 16 years, and 6 more teams that have played in it in that time frame that haven't won one. That's 19 different NFL teams that have played for the superbowl in the last 16 years.
Lebron and/or the Lakers have been in the Finals 13 of the last 15 years.
6 teams have won the finals outside of those two in the last 15 years, and two of them were in the last 3 years.
we pretty much know every year who's going to win the finals in the NBA. There's only been 14 teams that have won the NBA finals in the last 42 years, counting Lebron's (Heat/Cavs teams as 1), and before the last 3 years with Toronto and Milwaukee winning, every team that has won a championship since 1984 has won mulitple titles in that time frame.
Honestly it's such a shite league.

Being too shy and feeling it's not your place year 3 in the league, I just don't see how you recover from that and go all the way to the other end and can become a true leader of a team, like basically every dude who leads a team to a title is, the ultimate team leader.

Honestly, he probably wont be.
I see his leadership future more like Kawhi or younger Durant, where they can be your best player, but they are never going to be your natural, vocal, organize your team on and off the court type leader.
Which is fine IMO, CJ and BI seem more comfortable in those roles.

Maybe I'm reaching here, but you can still be the guy everyone rallies around and looks to when you work as hard as Kawhi does and you lead by example.
I don't think anyone would argue Zion has done all he can do and has worked hard, by NBA standards, on and off the court through 3 seasons. Couple that with(the hypothetical) that he's just too shy and timid to reach out to a new teammate, I really don't think there is a good player parallel for that.

Sad that zion is making us a laughing stock.
Dude just went to portland without telling the team.
He deserves all of this.

Actually, its doing quite the opposite. He has somehow made the media defend us. Its actually almost impressive.
You really have to frick shite up to turn the media against you when they seem to be 99% in favor of said player

Honestly it's such a shite league.
the nature of the game + the playoff structure is what gives you the results that you think you can predict the champion. tinkering with the playoff structure would be the only thing you could change to get results more comparable to the NFL

This likely not true.
The only way to get results more similar to the NFL would be to have a more similar salary cap, contracts etc.

but as much as we like a 7 game series for the entertainment factor, shorter series's would yield more “random” results
Posted on 2/22/22 at 4:38 pm to Gabe Rippen
The random results are not because of the amount of games in the playoffs. It’s because the league has parity unlike the nba.

Thats totally different than in the NBA where guys get pushed to New York or LA regardless of how bad they are run.
Posted on 2/22/22 at 4:41 pm to ghost2most
it’s definitely a mix of both and the parity is probably more of a factor than the amount of games, so i’ll take back my initial statement. the Warriors can’t blow a 3-1 lead in a 5 game series

Nobody goes to the Knicks. Nobody went to the Nets until two years ago. Clippers were the league's biggest laughingstock until CP3 trade. The Lakers are the only consistent destination of the LA/NY teams.

Carmelo and Amare blew up their contender teams to go to the Knicks together.
It was stupid, for all the reasons people could mention, but they did it.
KD and Kyrie were potentially going to the Knicks as well, despite how shitty they have continued to be and how bad they botched the Carmelo/Amare pairing as well

And they've been whiffing on the big money FA every year since. KD and Kyrie didn't go to the Knicks because of how bad they're run.

No denying that, it is actually quite the achievement in ineptitude to have so man built in market and legacy advantages as the Knicks do and be consistently this bad.
But the league and players still do see it more favorably, and give it more consideration than well run small markets, which sucks.
