Just google "Zion suicide" and there's articles.

It's basically a Biggie song lyric he quoted on his IG story.

It’s literally just a song on an album that he’s been referencing for about a year now. I’ve seen him post these lyrics before as well.

I’m just going to chalk it up to Zion liking the album and song and not being too bright. More and more evidence of that lately tbh. He still doesn’t understand what he should and shouldn’t say in this social media age of 2023.

If we want to contend, we really need him healthy for 85-100 games a season after including the playoffs.

It takes 20-22 playoff games to win a title. Zion playing 60-65 games in the regular season is enough. He will never play north of 90 games in a season. No one does today. Jokic just played 79 games total.

This is also part of why Jordan was just incredible. He played at or near 100 in each of the bulls 6 championship seasons.

I don’t disagree with your conclusion on his conditioning but I think the target is 80-85 games all in each year.

Yeah I think we are pretty much on the same page here

Denver was kind of dominant during these playoffs, so I might have overcompensated on my round up by a touch.

I think the most key number is potentially 125 (combined regular season games by Ingram and Zion)

That should get us comfortably into the playoffs. The contention aspect will depend on how healthy they are during the playoffs. The great thing about the playoffs is there are no back to backs. Sometimes, you even get 2 days off during series. Or 4-7 days off after a series if you close it out quickly. The games are more intense. You have to play more minutes. But you typically get more recovery time after.

That is insane. Two "Superstars" that can't muster more than 60 games a year. They supposedly aren't even in their primes yet. Why can't they play a full season? Team can't win with almost half of the payroll missing 1/4 of the season, especially when there is a lot of overlap. I'd take both of them being 80% as effective playing the whole year, rather than going all out for only 75%..

2019: 86 games combined
2020: 122 games combined (shitty roster, shitty coach, shitty Covid season, both injured late at in opportune times)
2021: 55 games combined
2022: 74 games combined

I’m just being a realist baw

If they combine for 125 games and the rest of the roster stays reasonably healthy, we are a top 5 seed.

Of course I want them to play more than that. I’m just attempting to be a realist. You aren’t really arguing w the right person on this topic tbh. We are basically on the same side of the fence regarding Zion if you read through the thread.

2 things we have to take into account that pretty much guarantees Z or Bi will
Never play a full 82

Z is overweight and plays a physical playstyle

Bi is underweight and gets beat up. People also forget about his life threatening blood clots from several years ago. They were caused by lifting weights differently after a shoulder injury. That is why the guy takes forever to come back from injuries. Bc the last time he was somewhat casual with a rehab process, he almost died. People underrate that situation on this board when talking about Ingram recovery times. Dude is paranoid from overcompensating from an injury and getting blood clots again (bc it already happened once).

I'm not disagreeing. I just don't think it's a realistic way to move forward. If these players are that fragile, then we should move away from them. We can't plan around them only being available 75% of the time (or less). The margins are too narrow to be successful that way.

People are going to point to guys like Kawhi Leonard, Embiid and Durant missing time. But they haven't won anything in a long time, cause they can't stay healthy and the teams falter. It's not a viable plan moving forward.

I will never understand how this is allowed to carry on. A player's body should be maximized very early. Then they should be fine tuning each off season. Our training and conditioning staff should be ashamed. I can't think of a player on our team that is physically maxed out. We are one of the worst conditioned teams in the league and always have been. I miss guys like David West that took such pride in living in the weight room and overachieving relative to his talent level. We need more of that..

The vast majority of "stars" play fewer than 70 games per season.

Jokic played 69 this season, Murray played 65, Butler played 64, Bam played 75, LeBron played 55, AD played 56, Tatum played 74, Jaylen Brown played 67. Those are the "star" players from the conference finals teams. Only 25% of them played more than 70 games. A "good" expectation is for your star players to play somewhere between 60-70 games. I'm not really a fan of that either, but that's what the NBA is in today's game.

If you look at the top 30 scorers in the NBA from last season, only 8 of them played more than 70 games.

*I just picked 30 players because there are 30 teams, so that would represent the average top scorer for each team, though I do realize that there are teams with more than one player in the top 30 scorers*
