Not sure how many times it shows up. When we have to go to the nance lineup bc JV can’t switch on anyone then you end up small with no rim protection at all. You need to find a big that can move and has size to block shots and rebound. It’s killing us every game

Can’t rebound and can’t block a shot with nance as your 5

Well we can’t imagine Jax is that person because he is not. So everyone needs to stop fricking saying that and stop saying we are fine with just Val and Nance.

The lack of a reliable rim protector is killing us

Agree Jax Is horrible at all things basketball. Literally useless at this point. Need to make a trade bc JV and Nance combo can’t be your only big men on the team.

Pels talk: “imagine if Jax was good and playable to use as a 3rd big (aka another big that can rebound and block shots)

Also Pels talk: “we shouldn’t spend anything on a 3rd big. Nance and Val are plenty” “we wouldn’t even need a another big in the playoffs or big games”

Anyone saying we don’t need another reliable big that can rebound and protect the paint then they don’t know anything about basketball. Utah is problem bc they have bigs that can shoot and move. We are screwed with teams like this bc you can’t play JV because he has to defend the 3 point line So you play nance and he’s too small to get rebounds or protect the paint.

No the problem is the idiots who say “it’s not worth it” to spend assets/ picks for another big. What the frick does a trade for a big without using value get us? Jaxson Hayes? He’s on the team already and is worthless. You have to give up value/ assets to get value/ assets. It’s common sense.

Idk if this is the reason. I think the main reason is that JVal is still a good player and there isn’t a huge difference between him and Turner to justify the cost of getting him and then paying him. Turner is more athletic for sure and would be an upgrade defensively but it’s not a clear W trade the way some think it is

People are undervaluing Turner. He can knock down the 3 when Zion kicks it out. He is one of the best shot blockers. Hes a great free throw shooter. He can switch defensively. He moves much faster than JV that we would literally be running teams off the floor. If we give up just a few assets to get him, its definitely worth that price.

Donta Hall averaged 2 blocks and a steal per 36 the last couple of NBA seasons to go along with 13pts and 12rbs on 70%+ shooting with his best skill being pick and roll D…he’s playing in Monaco now. I’d trade him out for Jax in a heartbeat.

Turner is also a horrible rebounder and wants to be a main focus on offense.

It’s like y’all don’t watch him or know him and only know his name.

Bigs that can shoot and move are pretty much always going to be a problem for the opponents…that is a true statement.

The good news is no one is actually saying that.

Someone explain to me how we would NOT be a bottom 5 rebounding team or darn close if Zion/Turner/Nance are our bigs?

There are multiple reasons for that. One is you seem antsy to solve this problem THIS season. Honestly I've thought about starting a thread about that. Should we be all in this year despite our youth and inexperience because of the unexpected level of parity in the league? I'm not sure what the answer is to that. Part of me thinks we should go all in even if it complicates the future.

The second reason is I think there's a reasonable chance we could get this 3rd big next year. The Lakers pick is more likely to be 6-10 rather than 1-5. I know you're not supposed to draft for need, and taking a big with a top 10 pick that isn't Wembenyama will probably trigger PTSD in a lot of posters, but I also don't believe in drafting guys that won't develop because you don't have minutes for them. And the Pels 1-3 positions are pretty stacked. We're probably going to sell low on Kira rather than rehab him fully for this reason.

So I think there's a very good chance we're picking a big in the lottery this offseason, which is a big reason I am not that interested in trading for a big now unless we're talking about a stop gap on the cheap.
