After a rapid courtship and negotiation, Doc Rivers has reached agreement on a deal to become the next coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, sources tell ESPN.

I guess once Lue gets a job we'll start hearing Kenny Atkinson's name.

Yeah that’s how I expect it to play out. And I’m cool with that.

I can talk myself into D’Antoni. The others are melt city.

Atkinson has been available since Gentry was fired over 6 weeks ago. Just hope that we don't hear Kidd's name. A bit concerned that reports had been that Griff would interview 2-3 in person. The only candidates mentioned thus far have been Lue, Kidd and Rivers (i.e. 2-3?)

If we hire Kidd or Jackson, it'll be one of the quickest I've ever seen a fanbase going from how much praise Griff was getting just 1 year ago to being ready to be ran out of town just 1 year later.

What happens if Houston hires Atkinson and Indy hires MDA?

Then what are we looking at?

I mean I think he has to start looking at assistants at the point right?

Since there won’t be anyone else, yeah.

Some of the best coaching hires in history have been a team’s 5th choice that backed into.

I know who I don’t want. I feel stronger about that than who I do want.

But what was stopping us from hearing Atkinson's name already?

He's interviewed for other jobs, and could've theoretically been hired. If they were really high on Atkinson, seems like they wouldn't have waited this long.

Also, D'antoni's gotta be PISSED. It felt like Philly was literally a day or two away from hiring him, then Doc gets fired.

Listening to NBA radio, it maybe a blessing in disguise.

They were pointing out how Doc is infamous for not putting much stock into practice and his players being out of shape (evidenced by the Clippers huffing through the 4th quarter in the playoffs).

That's the last thing we need for Zion

Yeah. But Philly’s roster makes NO sense for MDA.

Indy’s roster makes so so much more sense for him.
