Apparently ownership was dead set on Mike, but Brand didn't want Mike and wanted Lue.

They compromised with Doc

Brand's lucky he has a job. Why is he rocking ownership?

If they were really high on Atkinson

Maybe he's #2 on the list, but why take your #2 before your top choice tells you no?

It really seems to me that the obvious answer to the question of "why aren't we hearing other names?" is Griff is all in on Lue until he gets a no.

BTW, does anyone remember the source of the report that Griff would have fired Gentry mid season if Lue had been available? I'd like to see it but can't find it. It was buried in a bigger article around Gentry's firing IIRC.

A serious possibility to join Rivers' staff with the Sixers, sources tell ESPN: Former Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry.

Listening to NBA radio, it maybe a blessing in disguise.
doc was never a fit for us. Athletic article the other day saying how he had issues developing younger guys and just wanted to rely on vets. Was a big reason he was fired

Joe Vardon from Athletic. You know The Athletic's rolling in cash because they hired guys like Vardon. Don't think many people considered him all that credible.

Had Tyronn Lue not taken the job with Rivers on the Clippers, sources said, Lue may have been hired in New Orleans earlier this season. There were frustrations at Christmas time inside the organization with Alvin Gentry, sources said, though Gentry was allowed to stay on for the rest of the year because Williamson returned from injury. The Pels started winning, and there weren’t candidates on the open market to step in.

I think MDA would be at least worth sticking around and giving a chance.

If it’s Jackson/Lue/Kidd I’m not wasting my time watching unless they somehow start winning consistently.

Because the 76ers have one of the most inept ownerships in the NBA. Sure they will spend money and go into the tax. They’ll try things other teams haven’t. But where has that gotten them?? Three straight misses on huge acquisitions. Swing and miss on horford butler and tobias. Not saying I’m happy brand is making the executive calls, but it’s better then our owners calling shots trust me

I think Sam casell, j Kidd then Kenny Atkins are the best options for y’all right now. None of them are long term but to develop the young core I don’t think those 3 guys would ruin the rebuild
